The LAUGHING PUB

From the Heart of Ireland tour of MCLA Alumni
November 2-9, 2000

During our time in Killarney our great tour guide/bus driver, David, got us front row tables at the Laughing Pub. It is probably the largest of the pubs we visited. There we were introduced to traditional Irish jigs and reels. We heard interesting songs, and we had our first taste of tour member Claudia's suberb vocal ability. Our host for the evening also branded a whole slew of our fellow tour members as "The Sisters" because they claimed responsibilty for the good weather we had been experiencing.

We were treated to a number of songs by a renowned Irish singer. A performer
Irish dancers And these three young Irish ladies, in traditional garb, demonstrated some of the jigs and reels. As some of the dances went on, the tempo went up, and they kept with it, with smiles on their faces.
Our host for the evening, playing the accordian, provided a funny and lively evening for us. This was Dennis' first attempt at dancing an Irish reels. (He's the guy on the left.)The girls were VERY patient! Our host
more dancing And for a little while, our host left the stage and danced with a member of the audience. Is that Marita he's dancing with?
