Some Irish use thatched roofs on their homes, unlike in the United States where the only place you will find thatched roofs are in re-creation villages. In Ireland, the houses use either thatch or tiles for their roofing materials.

The pictures above, to the right and below are the same house. Notice the design work at the peak of the house. Word is that you can tell the person who did the thatching can be identified by the design.
