An Autumn Snapshot

By Paul Mc Cann

As naked trees stood captured in the silence
of Autumns lonely sound,
I caught old man with my camera
with the leaves on the ground.
The snapshot of an old man reflecting at life
came through the lens.
The long shadows and the bleakness
that the presence of Autumn sends
placed itself in a frozen moment of time,
in a framed snapshot .
Snapped in the nick of time ,
Shutter speed for where the sun never shone .
Snipped like buds in a darkroom,
all the flowers of Autumn had gone .
New life will blossom once again
long after the old man is dead,
Clipped back for new growth.
Life continues in the years that lie ahead
