ACCELERATED READER

This year, we will set AR goals every six weeks. We administer the Star Diagnostic Test before or at the beginning of each 6 Week Grading Period to determine your child's reading level and his or her points goal.  You will receive a sheet at the beginning of each period that lists your child's Grade Equivalency, the reading range, and the points goal.  All second graders must reach their points goals and end up with an average test score of 80 or better by the end of the six-week period.  Then each week, when we send papers home on Thursday, we will update their Accelerated Reader points earned to date, what percentage of their goal they have earned, and what their current average test score is.  Random words of encouragement, celebration, or warning may also accompany the updated AR data!  If at any point during the year you have questions or concerns about how your child is faring on the AR program, please do not hesitate to contact me.
