OUR MARDI GRAS CELEBRATION!
Ann Marie's mom treated us to a Mardi Gras Celebration complete with jambalaya for lunch, a King's cake for dessert, and crafts,  We learned a lot about Mardi Gras itself and many of its symbols and traditions.  The kids decorated their own colorful Mardi Gras masks and jester hats, and then walked around school sharing their mini-parade with some of the other classes.
Mrs. Miller and Ann Marie dish out some tasty jambalaya while Katie eagerly awaits her plate.
Ann Marie's mom carefully cuts the King's cake:  a baby is hidden in one of the pieces. The King's cake is decorated with the traditional colors of Mardi Gras:  purple, gold, and green.
Jessica found the baby in her piece of the King's cake!  This means that she will have one year of good luck.  It also means that she is supposed to be the one to provide the King's cake for next's year's Mardi Gras celebration.  She won a gold coin for finding the baby -- and she got to keep the baby, too!
Craig and Kassie glue brightly colored feathers to decorate their Mardi Gras masks.
Here we are, decked out in our masks and jester hats, ready for our Mardi Gras parade to Mrs. Hedden's class.
Can you recognize your child?
THANK YOU FOR A WONDERFUL CELEBRATION, MARJORIE!!!!
