ABSENCES, TARDIES, MAKE-UP WORK

ABSENCES
When your child has missed all or part of any school day for any reason, please send a note explaining the absence when he/she returns to school.  Send the note to my classroom first, then I will send your child to the office with the note to get an Excused or Unexcused Admission Slip.  The office must have a note on file for each absence, and I like to keep a copy in my room, also. (Please refer to the Student Handbook for a list of what constitutes an approved, excused absence.)
TARDIES
A student who arrives at school or at the classroom door after the 8:00 bell is considered tardy.  If you drop your child off at or near the 8:00 bell, he or she should come to the classroom first, and I will determine if he/she needs to go to the office for a tardy slip.  If you are accompanying your tardy child, you can take him/her directly to the office for a tardy slip.
There is a new policy governing tardies.  Please refer to page 12 of the 2006-2007 Student Handbook to familiarize yourself with the changes, especially
unexcused tardies!
MAKE-UP WORK
When your child misses school, I will have a list of classwork assignments and homework that he or she needs to make-up.  If your child has a brother or sister in another class here at school, I will make every attempt to take the make-up work to the sibling to bring home.  You are also welcome to call or e-mail me and make arrangements to pick up the make-up work.  Otherwise, we will just send it home in the homework folder when your child returns to school.
Traditionally, I have allowed a student two days for each day missed to get the make-up work completed and returned to me.  However, the Student Handbook only allows one day per missed day to complete and return make-up work. Work that is not returned will receive zeros.
