de MAYO FIESTA TO AID HURRICANE MITCH VICTIMS
Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with some of the best Latin food, music and dance in Richmond and help raise funds for medical relief to Honduras! The Boss opens its doors at 8:30 pm Friday, May 5, with salsa and merengue lessons, carribean cuisine, and drink specials. Proceeds from a $5 cover charge will go to a team from the Medical College of Virginia that will provide medical care in Honduras this summer. In the aftermath of the devastation unleashed by Hurricane Mitch, Honduras is battling malnutrition, outbreaks of malaria and dengue fever, and one of the worst HIV/AIDS epidemics in Latin America. Help make a difference while enjoying an authentic Carribean buffet for $7.95 from the Chef including Pernil al Horno (pork shoulder roast), Fricasse del Pollo en Mojito (chicken fricasse in garlic sauce), and Plantain bananas. Cool off with beer and margarita specials before 9:00. La Salsera Frances Oyola, El Salsero Steve Greene, and the members of the Los Salseros de Richmond dance troup will begin salsa lessons at 9:00 pm, followed by merengue lessons at 10:00. DJs Emily Torres, “La Taina,” Steve Green, “El Bailerin,” and new DJ to Richmond -Alberto "Chakal" Colon will keep the dance floor hopping till 2:00 am. |
