Road (Rt. 18), Medina, Ohio.

Membership Meeting at 1:30 p.m.
Meeting Directions: Prince of Peace Lutheran Church is located on the
north side of Rt. 18.
• From I-71, heading towards Medina (west), the church entrance is
located just past the Meat Packing Plant (where the cow is!) on the right.
Rt. 18 goes from a divided highway to a two way at the church entrance.
• From Medina, go east on Rt. 18, the church entrance is just past the
light at River Styx on the left side of the road.
The Memorial Day Parade: will be here before we know it. Now is the time to
order your MCWM Jerzees, cardigan, ladies polo, Lee Heavyweight crew-neck
sweatshirt, fleece-lined jacket and/or membership pin, if you haven’t
already. Of course, these items are optional. Contact Sharon Nicholson for
more information.
MCWM Book Library: We have obtained some of Julia Hach’s book collection on
the History of Women in the Military. Contact Kathy Petras for more information.

It is the time of year for us to participate in local PARADES and ACTVITIES!
We need your participation and will be contacting you about:

• Lodi Corn Festival

PICNIC: Viola Englert has arranged for us to have our summer picnic Sunday
June 29th 4 p.m. - dark @ Hubbard Valley. Families are welcome!
Last names beginning with A-K please bring a main dish.
Last names beginning with L-Z please bring a dessert and
everyone bring your own table service and beverage.
VETERANS DAY CELEBRATION: Will be held Sunday November 16, 2003 @ 12:30
at the Galaxy in Wadsworth. More information will follow.
A SMALL COMMITTEE IS NEEDED: to design a memorial for the Memorial Trail @
the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman. This committee will
meet a few times until November, 2003. Different branches of the military
as well as diverse ages are encouraged to participate. POC is Sharon Kiesel:

THE NORTH COAST WAVES are dedicating a monument July 19, 2003 @ 10 a.m. @ the
National Reserve Cemetery in Rittman. Air Force & Coast Guard members,
who still fit in their uniforms, are especially needed to participate
in the ceremony. All are welcome to attend. A tentative luncheon is
being planned.
Also, Sunday afternoon May 25th, there will be a Memorial Day Ceremony
(time 2 or 3 p.m.).
23-25 OCTOBER 2003 There are tentative plans underway for a bus trip to the
Great Lakes Navel Base. Some of the activities planned are: a boot camp
graduation, visiting the women veterans’ museum, touring the Base, seeing
the Navy Pier, attending a dinner theater, Harrah’s Casino & possibly
attending the Oprah show. The tentative price is $230.00 per person double
occupancy which includes lodging & several meals. Call Sharon Nicholson for

MCWM BOOK, Volume 2 will hopefully be out this coming November so please
get your interviews in. For advanced book sales please contact
Sharon Nicholson.

NEXT MEETING is scheduled for Saturday September 27th @ noon.
Please bring a brown bag lunch and join us as we go over important
information. The meeting will be at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church,
State Rt. 18 (3355 Medina Road). Mark your calendars now!

FALL FOLIAGE TOUR is scheduled for Oct. 11-12. We will be having
a booth set up at the Depot in Valley City, which is located on
Rt. 303, south of Rt. 252 (Columbia Rd). Look for the red caboose
and Abe Lincoln statue. The hours are noon-dusk. Help is needed to
staff the booth as well as set up Friday evening the 10th @ 7p.m.

VETERANS'S DAY LUNCHEON is scheduled for November 16th @ 12:30.
It will be at the Galaxy in Wadsworth. Everyone really enjoyed the
excellent food and companionship last year. There will be mmore
