MEDINA COUNTY
WOMEN OF THE MILITARY

December 1999

The Luncheon The First Annual Medina County Women of the Military Veteran's Day Luncheon was a success. Over 30 members attended! Everyone brought delicious dishes to share and enjoy! We want to extend a special thank you to Marlene Jenewin for the beautiful table decorations she arranged.

Julia Hach started us out with a heart warming and tear provoking welcome. She then led us in the pledge of allegiance. Then we all introduced ourselves, told our branch of service, and what job we held (or are holding.) Sharon Kiesel led us in the invocation. Then we all enjoyed the wonderful food and fellowship. Later, Kathy Petras moderated the discussion of organization.

The Discussion The attendees voted to formally organize as the MEDINA COUNTY WOMEN OF THE MILITARY. The proposed mission of our group will be: 1) To enjoy and promote the fellowship with other women veterans 2) To make the public aware that women are veterans too! The group also discussed how often to meet, membership fees and publicity. But most importantly, the attendees decided to elect a slate of officers.

To that end, volunteers from within the audience have formed a nominating committee. The following people are the nominating committee: Sharon Kiesel , Sharon Nicholson , and Melissa Reisinger. So if you want to nominate someone for office, or if you wish to run for office yourself, please fill out the attached form and bring it to the next meeting or send it to the return address.

The offices suggested during the meeting were: President, Vice President/President Elect, Secretary, Treasurer, Chaplain, Publicity, Social Coordinator, Parade Coordinator. Remember! The success of this group depends on the willingness of its members to participate and contribute!

Sharon Kiesel has expressed an interest running for President and Tania Oliveras is interested in handling Publicity. Several members have offered to help with the newsletters. We encourage anyone interested in holding office to contact the nominating committee.

Other Business Julia Hach urges everyone who wants their interview published to get them back to her ASAP (as soon as possible!) If you have not been interviewed, contact Julia.

If you want your name removed from the mailing list, contact Kathy Petras.

Next Meeting The next meeting will be held at 3:00 p.m. on January 15, 2000 at the Medina Library Meeting Room (also known as the annex.)We will be discussing the upcoming elections and other business. Please attend!

Note: Any mistakes in the account of the meeting are my fault. Apparently, moderating the discussion and taking notes at the same time is beyond my capabilities!
