HAPPY NEW YEAR!
The Board would like to wish everyone a
safe, healthy and happy new year. This year should prove to be an
exciting one. A variety of information is included in this newsletter,
so please check it ALL out: First, a recap of the end of 2000...
VETERAN'S DAY LUNCHEON:
The November 12th luncheon was a huge success. Many thanks to all the individuals
who helped with setup…Doris Ramey for the wonderful table decorations
and Letha Hickox for arranging for the church, a thank you to the
United Methodist Church for allowing us to use their wonderful facility
and a special thanks to all of you who attended to make it a success.
Special thank you cards from local school children were set at each
place setting, they were quite touching. Attendees included sisters
Randi Breese and Sonni Strong, Kathy Petras and Sara Johnson, cousins
Sharon Nicholson and Kathy Petras; Wedding Anniversary Celebrates of
55 years Mildred & Kenneth Benner and 56 years Evelyn & Alfred Minichiello.
Member Information Packets were distributed - special thanks to
Mary Beth Yoho for all her hard work putting them together for
distribution. The MCWM also awarded a commemorative clock to
Julia Hach for all of her special thoughts and efforts for the group.
Stay tuned for plans for next years event.. maybe even a speaker??
CHRISMTAS CARDS SENT OVERSEAS:
SPECIAL THANKS to Sonni Strong
and Missy Reisinger for their great work in the acquisition and mailing
of Christmas cards to our overseas military personnel.
THANK YOU TO:
Lee Harper for donating the P.O. Box -Lee was unable to
attend the luncheon as she had a command rehearsal in New Philadelphia,
OH for a Union Band Job. Doris Ramey for all her efforts after the
luncheon distributing the wonderful cake to Veterans in the community.
THANK YOU FROM:
Julia Hach for the commemorative clock. The MCWM Board for all of
the members who have given their time so generously to make all
that we do a success!
MEMBERSHIP LIST RESTRICTED:
By unanimous vote at the Veteran's Luncheon,
membership decided to NOT allow distriution of the MCWM member list.
If an organization would llike to disseminate information to the group,
they may send it to our P.O. Box and we will distribute it in the
newsletter. Members may then act on the information as they wish.
GOVERNOR'S ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON WOMEN VETERANS:
Governor Taft has reconvened
this committee and the purpose is to advise him of the concerns and
issues facing Ohio's 50,000 Women Veterans. The goal is to locate,
educate and advocate for Women Veterans in Ohio. The MCWM Board has
appointed Doris Ramey as the liaison to this committee. She will
attend a scheduled meeting on January 26th along with LTC Sharon Kiesel
and MAJ Jennifer Syme. Enclosed you will find a survey (that we
agreed to distribute to our members) and a stamped addressed return
envelope for your convenience. Please give your feedback as the success
of this outreach depends on YOU!

County Library Annex. Mark your calendar!
WIMSA MEMORIAL PICTURE AND PRINTOUT:
Registered women may obtain
a printout of your information and a picture of the memorial.
The order form is enclosed in this newsletter packet. If you know
of anyone who is not registered, please contact 800-222-2294 for
registration information.
NEXT MCWM MEETING:
The next meeting is schedules for
Saturday March 24th at the 3:00 pm at the Medina County Library Annex.
We look forward to seeing you there. We have a lot of planning to do,
especially with the upcoming parade.Think about chairing this great event!!
As always we need volunteers.. More information to come on the parade.
PICTURE DAY:
LTC Sharon Kiesel has offered the photography services
of her husband for individual pictures of you in uniform at a reasonable
cost. More to come on this exciting opportunity. This would be an ideal
lpicture for your family records and to send to WIMSA.
