Medina County
Women of the Military

MAY 31, 1999

Meeting - We had a very nice turnout for the meeting on March 20. Julia Hach provided a beautiful cake honoring the Military Women. Julia also announced that the Medina County Women in the Military will lead off the Memorial Day parade, right behind the color guard. We will meet at 9:30 in front of the courthouse to form up.

Banner - We are going to have a new, bigger banner for this year's parade, thanks to Julia's sister in law, Lillian, who is a great seamstress. We will need two volunteers to carry the banner. Preferably women in full uniform.

Saluting - If you are in uniform, it is appropriate for you to salute when the color guard passes by. If you are not in uniform do not salute, place your hand over your heart.

Candy - There will not be any candy throwing during the parade. It is a safety hazard for the children.

Uniforms -If you have a complete uniform (that fits!) be sure to wear it for the parade. If you do not have a complete uniform, it would be better to wear a tee shirt or sweatshirt with the name of your branch of the service on it. (But it isn't necessary.) Incomplete uniforms do not show the proper respect.

Sources - Whitey's Army/Navy store in Medina has Army, Navy and Marine tee shirts for $14, sweatshirts for $23. Air Force and Coast Guard people?

Interviews - Everyone get their interviews back to Julia Hach. She is almost ready to go to the printers.

Other meetings - A number of women have expressed an interest in having additional meetings through out the year. Please fill out the form below and return to Julia Hach, before April 30, 1999.
