March Meeting a Huge Success!!! A big thank you to all of you who attended the March meeting.
There was standing room only. The meeting covered many topics and the following is a summary of
key points.

Membership: The membership continues to grow, with current total close to 70. Tell a military
friend and have them join us at the upcoming events!!

Chapter Donations: Our treasury has become a little more stable and Letha continues to
accept donations from members. Remember, the yearly donation is $10 and this covers our
mailing expenses for the newsletter and other chapter expenses as they come up. If you have not
sent your donation in for the year 2001, please do so as soon as possible.

"The Book": Our dear Historian, Julia Hach, has been busy organizing the completion of
the first edition. We all admire and appreciate her work as well as her donation of time
to the organization. Anxiously we await word of a publisher.

May 15th is Senior Day at the Medina Community Center at the Fairgrounds. Stop in and see
the military display.

Governor's Task Force: Doris Ramey, our liaison to the Governor's Task Force Region 4
has been busy attending meetings and gathering information for our members. Doris has done
an outstanding job representing our chapter, especially at the most recent meeting on
April 27th in Akron. The Medina County Women of the Military are stting the standard for the
other counties in our Region and the state! Keep up the great work Doris!

Special Guest: We also had a special guest at the March 24th meeting. Laura Dunlop,
who is the Region 4 Chairperson for the Governor's Task Force attended and spoke on outreach for
women veterans and benefits available. We all appreciate her time and efforts on this important topic.

been organizing our efforts for a great turnout. We need all members to participate in the parade.
If you have any questions you can call one of the committee members for more information.
We will line up at 9:30 a.m. directly across from the Medina County Courthouse on North Broadway.
Wear your uniform or some item of clothing with your service on it. We look forward to a successful day.

June 12th Camaraderie Catch Up Picnic: This is a women's evening out! The Picnic
is planned for 1800 hours (6:00 p.m.) at Hubbard Valley Park Pavillion. The park is located
South of Medina. Take Route 3 south to Blake Road. Turn left on Blake Road, until you come
to Hubbard Valley Road. Turn right on Hubbard Valley, the Park is on your right side of the road.
The pavilion has electrical outlets. Please bring your own table service, places, nampkins,
non-alcoholic beverages and a dish to pass as follows: those with a last name beginning with
the letters A-K, bring a side dish such as salad, vegetables or dessert; those with the last
name beginning with the letters L-Z bring a main dish such as chicken salad, casserole, or
kielbasa, etc. and next time, we will switch! This should be a lot of fun and a great chance to
sit and talk with fellow women veterans, share stories and enjoy each other's company!
We look forward to seeing you there. If you do have any questions, call Sonni Strong or Julia Hach.
