Meeting: The next membership meeting will be at Baker’s Square on Saturday, April 21st at
10:30am. We hope to have a speaker at the meeting. Memorial Day Program: There will be a Memorial Day Program at the Western Reserve National Cemetery on March 27th at the main Flagpole. The time of the program has not been announced at this time, but will be noted on the reminder cards to be sent out in early May. The Memorial Day Parade will be on Monday, May 28th at 10:00 am. We will meet across the street from the Medina County Court House at 9:30 am. Wear your MCWM shirts, your uniforms or anything that indicates your branch of service. Please try to attend. Cars will be available for those unable to walk. Reminder cards will be sent out early in May. Please return the bottom half of the card indicating whether or not you will attend and if you will be riding or walking. Make sure that you send these in so that we will have enough cars available. Please plan on attending to show your respect for our fallen comrades. Volume I and Volume II of The Medina County Women of the Military are still available for a suggested donation of $25.00 to cover printing costs. Contact Sharon Nicholson at 330-416-6517 or email at Sharon@nicholson.net. WIMSA: North Coast WAVES, Unit 21 has invited us to join them on a bus trip to Washington, DC to attend the 10th Anniversary of The Women in Military Service for America Memorial. The date for the festivities has not |
been decided as yet due to a problem finding a facility large enough to accommodate the large
number of women expected to attend the gala dinner. WIMSA is still hoping to hold the event
on October 18, 19, and 20th, but there is a possibility of moving the date one week forward or
backward. The trip is still in the planning stage, but if you are interested, please contact
Sharon Nicholson. A flyer will be sent out as soon as the dates and the cost of the trip are
available.Happy Birthday!
The National Moment of Remembrance, established by Congress, asks Americans wherever they are at 3 p.m., local time, on Memorial Day to pause in an act of national unity (duration: one minute). The time 3 p.m. was chosen because it is the time when most Americans are enjoying their freedoms on the national holiday. The Moment does not replace traditional Memorial Day events; rather it is an act of national unity in which all Americans, alone or with family and friends, honor those who died for our freedom. It will help to reclaim Memorial Day as the sacred and noble holiday it was meant to be. In this shared remembrance, we connect as Americans. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
