According to family members Eliza Jane Munsey had a connection to the Muncee Indians, however, no one had been able to explain how. My mother recalls grandma Eliza having her Indian beads which the children were told they were not to touch. She had them hanging on her bedpost. I have the history of the Munsey line from which she originated. We have her father's name, but no name for her mother. Perhaps her mother was Indian and since Indians were not counted in the census or marriage with an Indian was not recorded that is where there is the connection and why there is no name found for her mother. If anyone has any information concerning this, please contact me. |
