Elegy to the Sparkling Winter Vegetables of the Earth
On the Earth, veggies are trapped.
On the Earth, Veggies are scrapped.
Vegetanbles, trudging through snow,
Vegetables, crawling so slow.
On the earth; forsaken,
For the sky is taken.
Hidden by shadows, where no one knows.
Under the shrubs, living with grubs,
Torn from the light, without a fight.
Cast from the sky, on Earth they lie.
Dark mud they all crawl though,
Skicky as morning's dew,
As subtle rays of sunlight fall down,
Fall on beans of yellow, green, and brown.
Carrots shimmer, broccoli shines
In the vast glory
Of the sky's lemons and limes.
Eggplants, radishes, hot peppers, too,
A sparkling rainow, a sad story.
