Behind the Scenes: the story behind the Hymn. Have questions? Like, "What the heck's with these people?!" or, "A poem on fruit?! Are you crazy?" Yes, I am crazy, in the best sense of the word. Basicly, I had a creative moment that lasted a mere ten minutes, fonrunately long enough to dream up an apropriate topic for an African Chant. The assignment was given a week inadvance, but I fingured it could wait because I had to worry about classes like Algebra II (which really IS the hardest math class in high school), So, I waited until the day before to write it. So, there I was, sitting at the kitchen table after a rather eventful bus ride home (mosquito on the window again...not to mention we discovered to write in the layers of dust on the ceiling and walls...). Looking around the room, the basket of bananas caught my eye. So, i tried to brainstorm things that related to bananas. My list was as follows: banana yellow Hawaii coconuts fruit Pretty sad, huh? So, I looked at the word 'fruit' and brainstormed on it. That list was pretty large, as one can imagine. So, writing about plain old fruit was well, plain and dull, so I threw in Dancing just to be crazy. But the fruits had to dance somewhere, so why not the sky? 'Hymn' felt appropriate, like an old chant to praise a god or something. Thus the Hymn to the Dancing Fruits of the Sky was born. Peach added the 'Magical' part in two days later, because, "Everything neat has to be magical!" In TMP, peach thought it would be amusing to create a 'cult', just to say we were in a cult. And what a better subject for a cult than to worship fruit? |
Limerick: Fruit Fall The fruits have fallen from their haven, Splatting wet pulp to feed the raven. Fell down from clouds With loud sinking sounds: Tthere was no way to save 'em. |
