Peavey Spectrum Synth - Buggs With Version 1.00 Firmware

These are the buggs I found with the Peavey Spectrum Version 1.00 Firmware. Below is a copy of the correspondence I had with Peavey Support USA. The firmware of my synthesiser was upgraded under warranty by Australis, Peavey Support Australia.

question 1.
in 'mode poly' everything functions fine. when in "Mode Multi" the patch numbers on the front display change as expected, but the sounds only play correctly on bank 0, patches 0-126. patch 127 makes no sound. when switching to bank 1, the sounds appear to be that of bank 0 but the front numerical display shows the expected numbers of 128-255. is this a known bug within this version of operating system? i have reset the spectrum to factory defaults without any change.

Yes this is a software bug. Please contact you local dealer or Australis Music for V1.22 software. Be sure to request the Addendum to the owners manual.

question 2.
would it be possible to make available dump request macros to copy each sound patch individually and write them individually?

Yes, this was added in the V1.22 software and the SysEx strings are listed in the Addendum to the Owners Manual.

question 3.
is there a temporary area where patches can be written via sysx which are erased when the machine is reset?

No, all storage locations are backed up by the battery supply.

question 4.
is there a scheduled release date for a software upgrade? what features may be added? will the upgrade only require an eprom change?

The V1.22 software(EPROM I.C. chip) is now available. In addition to correcting some programming problems this new software also adds: six-part multi timbral, Legato Mode per patch, Global Bend Range(Prg, 0-24), and Global Autoflow Disable options.

Hope this helps!

Thanks,
Anthony
