Chapter 4- Jose and Laura

The next morning I was ready, I drove out to Jose's cabin in Donna's car.

When I arrived at the cabin Laura and Jose were sitting on the front steps.  They looked like a prefect couple.  Their smiles cut thru the air and disarmed anyone who met them.  However I knew in an instant his smile could reach out and have me or anyone else killed.

I wished I could have just done him right there, but with several of his body guards so close I would have surely died in the attempt.  I would wait for a better time.  A time and place where I would be close enough to make sure I got him and still give myself a way out.

"Hi Donna, I was hoping you would get out here today.  The place is getting to be a mess.", Laura said as I walked up to the cabin.

" Hello." I said.  "Where would you like me to start?", I added.

"Oh, let me show you." Laura responded as she got up and lead me into the house.

My first test had passed.  I had figured it would be easier to pass for Laura.  Jose was a criminal boss and suspect everyone, but Laura was just an innocent young woman.  I'm sure she suspected Jose might be into something criminal, but she seemed not to really know anything.  At this point she might have been to scared to do anything anyway.

If she tried to cross Jose he could have killed her without removing his smile, just like he had done to my brother.

For Jose, I just needed to continue to be a non-threaten housekeeper and things would be OK.  A lowly woman of Donna's standing was no threat to this macho drug kingpin, so if I kept in her character I would have no problems.
