Full Time Report

Starting Line-up: Stangroom, S Yuill, Barber, East, Cracknell, Southgate, A Yuill, Gowing, Johns, Starkings, Penfold.

The second game of the new season was away to Heathlands. With the squad looking a bit thin on the ground Stuart Yuill was drafted in to fill the vacant left back spot, and Saul Penfold continued his utility player role this time starting up front, John East also returned to the team at centre back.

The match couldn't have started better for Meadow Way and within 10 minutes Andy Starkings raced clear to lob over the out rushing Heathlands keeper.  Minutes later Meadow Way had their second chance which was narrowly missed by Saul Penfold.  Heathlands slowly came back into the game and following a period of pressure equalised, moments later they were in front following a deep cross to the far post.  This is how it remained until half time although Heathlands did have two goals disallowed.

Half Time (2--1)

The second half continued as the first had finished with Heathlands on the attack and the soon added a third goal.  Shortly after Meadow Way pulled one back when an Andy Starkings shot hit the post and was knocked in by Paul Southgate on the rebound.  Heathlands then added a fourth and a fifth following some defensive blunders but Asa Barber went a small way to redeeming himself when he rifled home a left foot drive from 3 yards!! And that is how it remained and Meadow Way suffered the second defeat of the season.

Result (5 - 3)
