So I just added this section for band members and other people who have close connections or just have an interesting Meatmen story to email it to me. I only have one for now and I got nearly a freakin year ago.

Sorry to Norman Voss who sent this to me. Here is the Boston incident of December 1995.

Here's the 1st installment -

STORIES FROM THE ROAD pt. 1

The story of the attack of the band on stage in Boston, Ma.

I think it was around Dec. 1995 when we had another one of those weekend trips up to the New England area. Leave the D.C. area on Thursday night, drive all night up the east coast. Play Portland, Maine on Friday, Boston, Massachusetts on Saturday and New York City on Sunday and right after the show drive back down to D.C. just in time to head to our loser jobs on Monday morning. This was probably the 3rd or 4th time we were up to Boston and always had a sold out, wild crowd. This time the crowd seemed to be too wild. I was watching the opening band 6L6 playin and noticed some fights breaking out in the crowd. I mentioned to Tesco before our set what a rough crowd it was. But hey, we were used to that. We went on and were about ½ way through our set when I noticed a fight break out. Soon more and more people were just beating on this one guy. The cloud of fists moved from the back of the mosh area to the front of the stage. Then some kid climbed up on stage just for the purpose of kicking that guy, who was getting beat up, in the face. Just as he was kicking him I remember our bass player Mark Davis giving that guy a shove back off the stage. By that point we had stopped playing the song to try to get everyone to cool out. Somebody threw a full, plastic water bottle at Mark but it missed him and flew towards me, hitting me in the eye. Didn't hurt at all but I had a big black eye for about a week afterwards. Mark in turn picks up a water bottle and throws it right back at the guy who threw the 1st water bottle. The guy immediately jumps up on stage and gets in Mark's face. He punches Mark square in the nose and suddenly there's about 10 other guys jumping on the stage trying to beat Mark up. As the whole rush of the crowd came on stage Tesco and I were pretty much pushed off the stage. Like the chicken that I am, I grabbed 2 girls that were next to me and ran towards the dressing room which was in the basement of the club. Mark was pretty much beat across the stage, when he got to my end he jumped off stage and headed into a bathroom where he was followed but since his nose was bleeding real bad they sort left him alone in there. They were grabbing cymbal stands and throwing them way into the crowd and generally knockin all or shit over - amps, stage props, etc. The whole crowd was just trying to head outside all at the same time. Someone also dragged a chair all the way across all the liquor bottles behind the bar, breaking them all. We found out later that a gang called FSU, which stood for Fuck Shit Up, used to be the bouncers at that bar but once management found out they were all in a gang they had them all fired. So this was the night that FSU decided to come back and teach the bar a lesson. Unfortunately we had to be a part of it. We took Mark to the hospital afterwards and although his nose looked messed up as shit it wasn't broken. I had a video of the whole incident for a long time but my evil x-wife trashed it to piss me off. Anyways, the next night turned out great cause we were at the Wetlands in New York City, and members of Bad Religion, Discharge, Murphys Law and the Mentors came to see us and we had a big party after in the dressing room. With Mark's bandage on his nose and my black eye we got to tell the tale about the attack on us the night before in Boston. Nothing like telling those big punk rock band how punk rock we were.
