Marlborough Township Papers

The Marlborough Township Papers have been indexed from copies of documents obtained in microfilmed form from the Ontario Archives.

The Ontario Archives website describes 'Township Papers' in this manner:

The file of Marlborough Township Papers consists of 1353 documents, generally from the period 1800 - 1850; a few documents were created both before and after that period. The index, which has been created from a database, may be searched from the link below. Prior to microfilming, every item in the file of 1353 documents was serially numbered, no matter how insignificant it's nature. Many documents are not useful for family history purposes and have been excluded from the index. Among the exclusions are, for example,

Frequently two or more records in the database were created for a single document. This occurred when, for example, the related document contained the names of two or more persons. Creating multiple records for a single document ensures that researchers may locate family names which would otherwise be hidden in a document which is indexed on a single name. With each document which has been indexed there is a brief summary of it's substance. These summaries are seldom transcriptions of the text of the document but should be sufficient to enable researchers to decide whether or not the microfilm should be obtained in order to view the entire document.

Family names are listed in the index in alphabetic order. For each record, i.e. for each family name listed in the index, there is displayed:

CAUTION:

This index was created for my personal use and has not been verified. Accordingly there is a definite but unknown error level. I am glad to share it but, in every case, it must be used only as an index and reference must be made to a copy of the original document for content.
