Stuck in the middle with you
Of the line that is. Actually it wasn’t bad, especially in the beginning. Although for some reason they made the cars wait awhile before being allowed to park, and then made us wait again to get into the park (something about ‘Hours of Operation’), the lines for the rides themselves were quick. This was ore amazing since it was Opening Weekend. A pleasant surprise indeed. It was hot though, perhaps the locals did not feel the need to venture out in the heat, or didn’t know it was open, had school, went fishing, etc. Whatever it was, it made it better for me.
Except the Scooby Doo Mystery Mansion ride line. Damn that was long. They pumped in crappy sound bytes from Scooby Doo. Why couldn’t they have had a TV w/ old shows or something. The ‘ride’ itself was at least amusing and I got to sit. For those not familiar w/ Carowinds, it’s owned by Paramount and is basically a smaller version of King’s Dominion (above Richmond, VA) and/or King’s Island (Cincinnati, OH).
And although there were not too many other people there, there was plenty of amusement. Mostly in the form of clothes. Very strange clothes. But we also brought some of our own amusement. In the form of "all the shrieking you could ever want." This person has asked to go unnamed, but let me tell you, she definitely had quite the experience there. Even with the fear of God obviously instilled in her, she never backed down from a ride (well, except the 360deg rotating boat, for which we all left when they said, "oh, just some routine maintenance").
A few people couldn’t take the heat. Don’t quite understand that myself; love the heat. Still, the old paddle wheel boat ride was a pretty cool relaxer. The food wasn’t too bad either and I don’t think anyone puked. Now the day was winding down, people were hot and tired and it was almost time to get back in the vans (which really should’ve counted as a ‘ride’ the way that went that weekend). So, what else could there be to make the day fun?
Come here and pull my finger
