Well, I don't really remember much of it. Perhaps that's because I'm blocking it out. Friday night was the Duke Jazz Ensemble trip (Jaycee event, though open to public of course). First, I thought this was going to be a trio only. I misunderstood. Apparently some funny Italians were over as a trio and played with the Duke Ensemble. Cool enough I guess, though a bit large for my tastes.
Anyway, on the whole the program was interesting, but there were a few quirks. Besides Chris and Susan that is. Like children in Church trying not to laugh, those two were crying through most of the show. Though I can defend them for one - the Italian drummer. The man was insanne. Probably around 50yrs old and bald, he was seemingly communicating with nature, the gods or aliens for most of the evening. He played one song with his mouth open in an 'O' the whole time. Mostly he looked at the ceiling, had his eyes closed and looked like one of Jerry's kids.
To top the evening off, we got parking tickets on campus. Ugh. Though I did almost flirt with the female cop (asking for directions of course). Then we gorged at Jimmy Johns where I got to stare at some of the locals. Lol.
Saturday was blow off everything and sleep in because you're sick day. This then turned into watch NC State suck ass day (though the refs weren't helping). After which I went to work and had a nice workout. Then downtown to Jillian's for pool and 'look at all the ugly in here!'. Of course, on the latter, I wasn't helping the average one bit. Actually caught up with a few friends there I hadn't seen in awhile so it was good. We left before the band got a chance to make my ears bleed.
Upon arriving home, we got treated to Sally having peed in the house. Then she would go outside (apparently empty). During this 'walk', I apparently stepped in dog shit. Which I proceeded to track all over the house. Ooooohhh, I was pissed. Some paper towels, carpet cleaner and a vacuum helped. Susan had the Swishy out (which was kinda cool) and was definitely the better tempered of the two of us. Which is why once the stuff was cleaned, I left my shoes on the porch and just downed some Nyquil. I simply didn't want to be awake anymore.
Sunday was Church with friends. I suckered 2 folks into going with me, then we had a nice lunch afterwards. Of course, approaching tax time, the lesson was, "the Church needs your money", which was not exactly inspirational, but at least practical. But, if anyone else wants to go with me sometime, just let me know.
Then we head off to a nice lunch at the Olive Garden. This was fun gossip time and then it was off to go watch the end of the Cincy game and then Duke beat the crap out of UNC. Chris and Shannon joined me at Playmakers to watch these games. The Cincy game was far closer than it should have been and I was certainly making an ass out of myself yelling at the screen. While it's always good to watch UNC lose, I really wish Dook would've lost actually.
Upon leaving Playmakers, we noticed the weather wasn't that bad and it had stopped raining. Chris and I were going to go bouldering, but we actually thought golf might be better (at least less damaging to his fingers and shoulder). Yes, even though my recent track record sucked, I was up for more punishment. So we went back to his place, picked up some clubs and OD and headed out to Knights Play. We played the Front 9 and I actually didn't do that bad. So I didn't do well either, but what the hell.
I actually only lost 2 balls (1 in the water and the other I just seemed to have dropped somewhere. Odd), though I found 2 others, so it's even. And OD got to check out my nice handiwork on the Hole #4 lightpole (a nice, honking dent!).
Then it was back for streaks and cartoons. Woohoo. The Simpsons, Malcolm and then 2 episodes of The Family Guy (taped from last week). It was basically 2hrs of me almost pissing myself. I needed a good laugh, I can tell you that. Then I went home, did some errands, checked email and looked for a job. Finally to bed and up for Monday morning and more training (which is why I'm emailing so much).
Hope yours was at least as good, if not better, Clay
