Has anyone seen my Ark?

First I'd like to apologize to all the folks on my net for my whining about the wet grounds. It was childish really.

All of us had to play on that net in the same crappy conditions, so no use complaining. Of course it affects the few short guys out there more, who rely on speed. The bad news is I lost way too many points to this, but the good news is I wasn't too tired. I mean, when every "first step" results in a fall, you don't really have to play out too many rallies.

How bad was it? After one game I was already completely covered in mud and I was literally scared of the giant ankle-breaking hole we had in our court. My opponents thought I was doing a good job of digging spikes. The real truth was I couldn't move out of the way fast enough and they just ricocheted off me. My partners thought it was cute I was falling everywhere trying to get balls. Nice.

On the whole I think I did well though. Once the grass somewhat dried, I got moving. Got my 2 wins, another 4th place finish (yes there were only 4 guys on the net, let's not ruin this for me), and more overall points than I had last time. So I guess that means I'm improving?

Anyway, my partner did take up the challenge of playing with me (note earlier albatross email) and came off as first girl - so I'm not a complete bad luck charm!

Despite my continual cursing at myself, I did have a great time. The competition was good, the plays fun and the company great. Thanks to the ladies for putting up with me: Tess, Jess, Carolyn and Sheri H. And to the guys for taking it easy on me: Troy, Forrest and Eric.

Hope everyone had fun and stayed injury-free. See you next month,
