Ok, so you've been wondering why I haven't sent any 'stories' lately I'm sure. Mainly because I've been too busy to get into trouble. Which brings us to why I should never be left unsupervised. It started earlier this week. Mid-terms.
Ok fine, I'm in some easy MBA classes, like Economics and Accounting for dummies. They purposely skip over the math and complications to dumb it down for us. Unfortunately they substitute this with a lot of memorization and tidbit crap. Problem is I'm good at the math. So after 2 midterms this week I find myself embarrassed. I have 2 degrees in engineering and yet I can't seem to do economics and accounting for morons. On the positive side, I do like helping people. Does setting the curve lower count?
So I'm already embarrassed and frustrated so I head out to volleyball. I get there with like 2 minutes to spare - no time to warm up, stretch or get mentally prepared. But this shouldn't be a big deal right? Yeah, I should've stayed home. I played so bad I embarrassed myself there too. But Clay, how could you embarrass yourself at volleyball?
I'm sorry you asked. And you will be too. Besides just general poor play, decision making and follow-through, I managed the most stupid of tricks - hurting myself. No, not in some ordinary way like diving, or even an ordinary pain like pulling a muscle or cramp. Nope, as the ball comes floating over, I line up where I need to be. And then trip. Well, not so much trip, as just forgetting how my feet work. So I managed to fall towards the ball.
Well, this resulted in two bad things. As I was hitting the ground, I experienced something I doubt few others have - I managed to 'rack' myself in the sand. Oh yeah, that hurt. And to add insult to injury, the ball then promptly hit me in the head.
Well, things did eventually get better, but it was too late. I was being a verbal ass to myself as well, so that wasn't helping. I have since apologized to both teams, but I need to get better about that.
But was that enough pain? Apparently not. Today I decided to change my transmission fluid….
Hope your day doesn't suck as bad as mine,
Clay "that didn't feel right" Berry
