- Are all MECO albums included in the discography section?
I believe they are. However, please note that the discography
list is basically a list of albums (LPs and CDs) and although I mention
many singles, I only consider as relevant to the list those singles not
extracted from LPs (like Raiders or Shogun). Additionally, there are many
different releases and special editions of the same album/singles. If you
want a complete list of those, check the Collector's Corner.

- I have found a song that (for any reason) I think it's MECO's.
Is it so?
If it does not appear in the discography list, it will probably
not. One recent case was a song called "The Driver" that appears as interpreted
by Meco. As expected this theme has NOTHING to do with Meco Monardo and
it's a trance theme that appears in Tracy Young's CD "Inside my head".
There are many cases like this.
However, there are hundreds of themes produced by Meco Monardo
that I am unaware of (read next question). In case of doubt, send me a
note and I will try to find out.

- I've
located a MECO CD available in the internet. How can I know it's not a
fake?
It's not unusual to find strange MECO recordings available for sale
through online auctions like ebay. Here is the rule-of-thumb to
find out it they are a bootleg: Check the Discography Section and the
Release List in the Collector's Corner. If the recording is not listed there,
it is not MECO's, and if it is said that such a recording was never
reissued on CD, do not believe you've found a rare jewel: it's a fake!
For example, on ebay I've seen for sale a faked "MECO's impressions
of an American Werewolf in London" on CD (this vinyl LP was never reissued
on CD!) or even a "Star Wars & Other Galactic Funk" CD which was obviously
home-made (they provided a picture!).

- Why don't you talk about many other recordings produced by
Meco?
Along the years Meco Monardo has produced many artists like
Gloria Gaynor, Kenny G or Yamira, but the interest of this page is not
Meco the producer but MECO the artist.

- Do you (Mecofan) have all MECO recordings?
My collection is rather complete, but the answer is no.
I just like MECO's music but I'm not a collector so in general I'm happy
with just one release of each album.

Where can I get a MECO recording?
First, did you check the discography section?
Do it, there you'll find out if the recording you're looking for has been
re-released recently or not.
If the LP/single you want has been re-released on CD (like
Star Wars and Other Galactic Funk or Christmas in the Stars) you can possibly
find it in a shop near you (or they can order it for you). Alternatively,
try buying it online, for example at Amazon.com.
If the LP/single you're looking for was not re-released...
bad luck! Your only hope is to find the original vinyl at second-hand shops.
Try at one near you or check out the links section
for a list of places in the web that advertise MECO vinlys for sale. Online
auctions are another possibility.
Finally: No, I'm not selling mine!

- Can you send me a copy?
Unfortunately at present I have no time for making and sending
copies to answer all requests I receive. Sorry but do not insist.
I suggest you to use the Guestbook to post your offers/requests
of Meco LPs.

- Then why don't you MP3 the albums and make them available
for download?
There is a strong debate about this and the usual argument
in favor of mp3ing is "The old albums are not available anymore. Then why
not making copies so we preserve them for the future?" I admit is a good
argument. But believe me, most people won't buy the reissues on CD
if they get copies in mp3 (or any other high quality format). The result
of this behavior is that nobody would risk producing a reissue if they think
they won't sell it. And don't worry, MECO's music won't be lost. Many of
us have copies (some of us have even transferred everything to CD) and the
old vinyls/tapes are difficult to find but can still be purchased.
Finally there is the issue of copyright that some just ignore
but I can't. Copyright still exists for those old vinyls and for the moment
distributing copies of them is not legal. If I ever get permission from
the copyright owners I will do it. Meanwhile, I won't. And yes, I've already
asked for permission and for the moment I was clearly disallowed to MP3
any MECO theme.

- Who
owns the copyright of the MECO recordings?
All sound recordings are owned by the record company the Artist is signed
to. It's another example of the inequity of recording contracts.
