MILK IS RICH IN CALCIUM
The commonest belief worldwide is that milk is the richest source of calcium, but a research into the nutritional composition tables projects a completely different picture. There are many foods rich in calcium and other nutrients, which can make up a healthy diet. Seafood like shrimps, fish and, in the vegetarian category, items like kamal kakdi (lotus stem), poppy seeds, dried arbi (colocasia), a variety of chaulai ka sag (amaranth spinosus) have a very high calcium content. They are very good diet substitutes, especially for people who are unable to digest milk adequately or do not like yoghurt.
