Abivin's eyebrow raised, and he was full of a slight anger and annoyance. Now Kasper was trying to use Baptista to get to Michael and Lance. Even in the grave he still held this grunge against the two, well really just Lance. He instantly refused the idea when it came out of Baptista's lips. He was not going to lose such an innocent person to those two; it already cost him most of his good friends and allies.
"You shouldn't listen to Kasper." He said. "There is just simply nothing we can do right now to stop those two and their comrades."
"But Abi-" She said, but was interrupted.
"No. I won't allow you to go near them. You'll end up back in that room to be used for your abilities, or even worse, they'll kill you."
She made a face, as if about to say something but he stopped her. He put his hand on her shoulder as if to have to lean on her to keep himself up. He stared once again so intensely into her eyes. As if to try and use his vampiric powers on her to keep her safe with him. But with what Kasper taught her she wasn't going to allow it. Abivin looked at her with a shocked expression as her eyes purely refused his hypnotic stares.
"No." She said pushing away from him. "I'm not going to just give up like that. I already know I can kill vampires. Kasper knows it, I know it, and I'm not going to stop until they're all dead... well, with the exception of the good ones." She smiled at him and then her face became serious again.
"You're going to end up dead Baptista." He said sitting down again. He looked so tired. "I don't know if I can handle this anymore. It seems that you think that I haven't tried. I've been trying hundreds of years and nothing has changed."
Baptista folded her arms and listened to him, on his brink of what he could do. He felt so hopeless and he was tired, extremely tired, and all he wanted to do is rest. He had been fighting so long, and his battle was worthless. But she shook her head, it wasn't worthless, he had changed a lot of vampires, Aloysia was definite proof.
She walked over to him and leaned on the arm of the chair, she stroked his hair as if he was a little child, trying to lull him to sleep. His lullaby he had hummed to her that one night came to mind, but she knew she couldn't remember it quite right. She continued stroking his hair, and humming her own lulling tune. It was his turn to rest, and he had the right to. Now it was her turn to fight the battle, and she knew he wasn't going to like what she was going to do, but it had to be done.
He fell asleep soon before she stopped humming and stroking his hair. She grabbed the blanket that was on him before but now was on the floor and tossed it over him. She lightly kissed him on the forehead and left the room.
"Who are you?!" A female voice boomed from the hallway. It was Gemma with a shocked look on her face seeing Baptista come out of the room Abivin was in.
"Oh my God, it's you!" Baptista said staring at the blonde brown eyed vampire. She had seen her before. In the picture of Chris' mom's house. It was her daughter she vowed to kill for her. "Abivin changed you, didn't he?" She said.
"Yes... but who are you? And how do you know me?" She said, lowering her voice, crossing her pale white arms across her chest.
"I'm Baptista." She said, immediately assuming that Gemma would know who she was. She was just full of excitement that she had found her. "When I escaped Michael, I came upon a house, it was your family's house. You're the girl from the picture I saw. These clothes I'm wearing are yours."
Gemma gasped, her face very much like her mother's only slimmer. She made the same O like lip expression her mother had. Though her skin was much paler than that of the picture's pigmentation, but other than that she hadn't changed a bit. She stared Baptista up and down and saw that she was in fact wearing her old clothing.
"How is my mother?" She asked, leaning against the wall, her arms still crossed.
"She really misses you. You should see her, I'm sure she'd forgive you after you told her what happened to you." Baptista said, staring at the lovely carpet. "She's really upset, and I know her madness comes from missing you."
"My mother wouldn't forgive me Baptista. I'm a murderer, and I'm still coming to terms with what I've done." She said flicking her blonde hair off her shoulders, only to cross her arms again, then staring at Baptista again. "I'm not ready for it yet."
Baptista nodded. She could tell by her face that she wasn't ready yet. "I know, but she needs you really badly."
Baptista didn't say another word and began walking down the hallway. Her hand gently raked itself across the wall as she made her way down. It felt as cool as a vampire's skin. She didn't look back, but she knew Gemma went into the room Abivin was in. She hoped that Gemma didn't wake him up, he really needed to get a good day's sleep.
She went from room to room, quietly so not to wake up any of the other three vampires that were in the house. She was looking for money; she needed it if she was going to kill those other vampires. It took her a bit until she had found some. Now she had to find keys, she didn't like steeling from her vampire friends, but she had to do what she had to.
Baptista came across a broad door, it was covered in lovely etchings, she quietly opened it up and there lying on a large bed was the lovely Aloysia. She looked so much like a modern day Snow White, wrapped in her white bed sheets and light blue blanket. Her hair, raven black, seemed so perfect, it wasn't messed up the slightest bit. She looked so heavenly, a dark angel perhaps, waiting for her prince to wake her up from her eternal darkness. Baptista stood there for a while staring, thinking how many paintings this sight could inspire, then she remembered what she had to do and closed the door softly not to wake the sleeping beauty.
Baptista made her way into the kitchen, something to eat would be so heavenly, but as she suspected the cupboards were bare. It was really quite lovely like the rest of the house, it made her forget for a moment how hungry she was. She really needed to get something to eat soon or she would look worse than Abivin.
She went outside and matched up the keys to what car they went to. It was Abivin's car, and what she didn't know was he was very particular with his car, and he wouldn't like his car being taking by anyone, even a friend. She started up the car and made her way out of the driveway and onto the street.
Abivin's eyes peeked up, hearing the sound of his car leaving the premises. Gemma who was still in the room immediately looked at him, seeing the highly irked face he was making. Heaven help the person who took his car, but she knew who it was, but she wasn't sure he wouldn't kill her later. He got up from his chair, not knowing what time it was, readying himself to dash out the window, but Gemma stopped him.
"It's still daylight." She said.
"She stole my car..." He growled. "What is she up to... God I hope she isn't up to what I think she is up to."
He had Gemma go get the others, as he sat back down in the chair and cupped his face with his hands as he shook them. This girl didn't know how much trouble she was in, he couldn't believe that she honestly thought she knew what she was doing. She may have spent many days inside that mansion and was able to kill a vampire, but she didn't know what she was up against. He cursed Kasper for filling her innocent and naïve mind with those thoughts.
Baptista pulled into a gas station and bought a few food items for herself. She took them outside and ate like she had never eaten before. It was like the first time she had ever experienced food. Like a vampire turning back into a human again, and enjoying eating food instead of blood. She wiped her mouth with a napkin and looked back at the store, then she looked up at the sky. She had to hurry up before it was sunset, she was going to kill those vampires today.
Then she got to her feet, stretching her legs as she went back into the store. She bought a few choice items that made the cashier look at her a bit oddly. Gas tanks, matches, and gas for the gas tanks. Then she bought a few more candy bars to fill herself up on the way to her little visit she was planning to give Michael and Lance. She was going to burn them, and that horrible mansion to the ground. Everyone was going to have their vengeance through her, and it was going to taste so sweet.
She drove so fast down that road that led to the mansion, pure hatred poured from every part of her body. It felt like everyone they had hurt was inside her, and they were urging her to burn the place down. She honestly couldn't wait to hear the vampire's screams of pain when they were ignited. She never felt this kind of feeling before, it made her feel invincible, it made her feel like she was God herself. Or maybe she was closer to humanity than she ever thought of.
"She what?!" Aloysia said once Abivin had explained what had happened with Baptista. "You don't honestly think she's going after them now? Do you?"
Abivin just nodded his head. He looked over to Sam, and Mark. They had never met the girl, but they almost felt the same kind of empathy for her as Abivin and Aloysia had. Gemma just thought she was a complete idiot to think she could stop them all by herself. But most of all they felt completely helpless, they couldn't stop her. The daylight would burn them so badly, even though it was only an hour until sunset, it felt like eternity.
Baptista pulled into the driveway, breaking down the gate with Abivin's car. He really was going to be mad at her. She pulled up across the lawn ruining it completely, mud and grass flew everywhere from the tires. She grabbed a can of gas and went around the house emptying it in the bushes. Then she got another and poured it on the walls of the mansion, on the porch, and in the garage. Then another and she went inside and poured it through several rooms. Then there was the last one, she found herself in Lance's den and soaked the room with it. Then she went upstairs and found bedrooms, she poured the gas silently so not to wake the sleeping vampires. Then before she left each room she opened the curtains to let the sunlight in. She ran outside and went to Abivin's car, and got the matches.
There was something in her; it filled her with the most incredible feeling. It was that invincible God-like feeling, but times ten. She lit the match and stared at the mansion for a moment, enjoying the feeling as it rushed through all of her body.
"This is for Frankie, Gemma and her mother, Abivin, Aloysia, Kasper, Heléna, me, and everyone else that you've hurt. I hope you all burn forever." She said and she tossed one match in the bushes.
She lit another and tossed it in the garage, then another and tossed it in the open house door. Then many more as she made her way around the house. It was very quick to catch fire and she began to hear the screams of the vampires as they caught aflame. They ran outside and tried to put themselves out, but the large almost set sun burned their skin even more than the fire.
Baptista got into Abivin's car and drove off, the dying vampire's glared at her. She pulled away with such power and arrogance. The monsters were dying, and she did it all by herself. She did it for her friends, and for the other innocent people, but most of all, she got her own revenge, and it was good. She was heading her way back to Aloysia's house to tell them what she had done.
Night had finally come and the vampires in Aloysia's house were ready to go find Baptista when they heard Abivin's car come back into the driveway. They went as fast as they could to the outside. The moon was their only light, as Baptista had turned off the headlights.
"What the hell did you do to my car?!" Abivin yelled, as he was the first to greet Baptista. It was covered with dins and scrapes terribly.
She grimaced. "I'm sorry about that, but you won't be so mad when you hear what I've done."
The other vampires caught up to Abivin and were shocked as well to the condition of his car. He stood there glaring at the young girl, not only had she taken his car, but she had wrecked it as well. What she had to say better be good, or he was seriously considering breaking her sweet little neck over it.
"I killed them. I burned down their house." She said getting out of the car, staying away from Abivin even after what she had said.
They stood in shock for a moment, they looked over in the direction of the mansion, and sure enough they saw smoke beaming towards the sky. Then they looked at her, she seemed to be perfectly calm after what she just did, and they were pretty sure this was the first time she had killed someone. All except Abivin anyway, but even he was surprised by her reaction towards the situation.
"Are you sure they are all dead?" Aloysia said giving her a hug, she was glad that she was okay now. "I mean did you see them dead?"
Baptista shook her head. "Not all of them, but a lot of them. I'd be really surprised if any of them survived it, because they couldn't escape the sun's light either."
"Wow." Mark said his brown eyes gleaming in the moonlight with happiness. "Even if she didn't kill them all, she sure did even the odds for us."
Sam remained quite, as he usually did, he looked from his friends and then to Baptista finally agreeing with Mark. "How I pray she got rid of Michael and Lance." His voice seemed much older than the others.
"I'm sorry I stole some of your money to buy the gas, I'll pay it back." Baptista said looking down at the ground, she looked over in the direction of Abivin, but didn't look him in the face. "I'm sorry I took your car, I know you didn't want me to do this, but I had to. If there's anything I can do..."
Abivin sighed, his mad face disappeared, but it wasn't a happy one didn't take it's place. "It's okay, just don't do it again. Okay?"
Baptista gulped and nodded.
The six of them went into the house. They knew that if there were any survivors this would be the first place they would come. Gemma introduced Sam and Mark to Baptista, Sam didn't say anything, but took her hand in his broad one and shook it. His green eyes told it, just how much mature he seemed to be than the others, that he had been around for such a long time. Mark was the opposite, he was quite eager to talk to her; he was full of youth and love of adventures and fights. Amazingly as it seemed, he looked a lot like Heléna. The same blonde hair, and the same eyes, except his were brown instead of blue.
At the moment they didn't know how right they were about there being survivors. The mansion was still burning on through the night, ten vampires stood there glaring at the fire. Not knowing who had done it, but they had two ideas. Those dumb wanna be vampire hunters they had to fight off every now and then, and Abivin. They never would have thought Baptista would have done it, they didn't know she had the guts. They couldn't smell anything but gasoline, so they weren't able to detect who it was by smell.
These ten vampires weren't in the house; they were in the city looking for signs of Baptista and dinner. Among these ten were Michael and Lance, and a rage filled them at the sight of the lovely mansion reduced to fire and debris.
"Whoever's done this will die." Lance simply stated. "No matter even if it was Aloysia herself."
Michael almost jumped back hearing the words coming out of Lance's mouth. He was absolutely obsessed with her, but it was about time that obsession died. Though he was afraid to the slight bit that it might have been Baptista. She was his, and he was the only one who was going to decide her fate, and no one else. Then he scoffed to himself, Now who's talking about obsessions...
They searched the grounds as much as they could, there was no one left alive. Whoever had done this had killed them all. Lance couldn't believe that such an attack could had been done to his mansion. Looking at the dead vampires on the lawn, he knew it had to have been done during the daytime. Whoever had done this was human.
Michael's eyes bulged when he heard Lance make that remark. The safety of his little angelic pet was getting thin, and he knew when Lance got mad there was nothing that could get in his way. He remembered Lance getting upset and he had ripped apart five of his of vampire friends who had gotten in the way. Just so he could get what he wanted.
"I'm off." Michael said running off into the night. "I'm going to get my pet back. Maybe our dead friends will come to her in her dreams."
Lance scoffed. "That little bitch is the one who probably did it."
"What?" Michael's eyes looked up and stared Lance directly in the eye.
"I was being sarcastic. That little arrogant thing couldn't harm a fly." Lance said looking away from Michael's glance, staring deep into the fire.
Michael made his way through the woods, since his car was burnt down he'd had to make his way to Aloysia's house by foot. He heard the sound of fire trucks coming to put out the fire. He'd stop every now and then because he could smell strong scents of Baptista in the woods. Then he came to an area that almost pushed him to the ground with her scent, and there before him was the skeleton of a vampire, burnt to death by the sun. He knew immediately she was the one who had killed that vampire, and it was the one he had sent after her. It was no question to him now that Baptista was the one who had torched the mansion now. He didn't care whose side he was on; he wasn't going to let anything happen to that girl. He knew Lance never appreciated the young artist's gifts, but he did.
The night was cool and Michael loved the breeze as it glided through him as he leaped from one place to another. He was almost to Aloysia's place, he knew there was going to be an immense hassle, but that wasn't going to stop him. He stared up at the moon; he returned a glow with his intense blue eyes, then continued on his way.
"Are you really mad at me?" Baptista whispered to Abivin, as conversations went other places between the six.
He stared at her; his expression spoke it all. Serious disappointment.
"Please, don't be mad. You know as well as I do, why I had to do it." She said inching herself closer to him, pleading even deeper with him with her dark blue eyes. "I was just trying to do what I thought was right."
Abivin sighed, his disappointed expressions and feelings were no match to that angelic face in front of him. With her hair chopped all off, it made her even more powerful, especially those eyes. She so much reminded him of him when he had first been reminded of human empathy as a vampire. Maybe it was time to have someone take his place in his mission, but he would feel utterly responsible if something happened to her, and he didn't know if he could live with that.
"Well?" She said, smiling slightly as a long moment had gone by and he had just stared off into space in her eyes, contemplating with himself.
"I forgive you, just next time... try and listen to me?" He said leaning in to hug her tightly.
She smiled as brightly as she could, and hugged him more tightly than he expected, but he enjoyed the hug. She was so warm; it had been a long time since he was able to enjoy hugging a human. He missed how warm he used to be, something that was always taken for granted.
She let go of the hug and stared deep into his eyes, she couldn't remember being so close to his face. Except for that night she first had met him, but she was still in a shock that she was in the presence of a vampire to really look at him. He was quite handsome, and it never really came upon her until now, and she didn't realize that or why she did what she did next, but it was done and she couldn't take it back. She leaned in and lightly kissed him on the lips. They were so cold, but they felt as sweet as he was.
"Thank you. For everything, and now I know I should listen." She said, laughing slightly.
He cleared his throat, as if he had to. An intense fear went through him that was obvious to him and her "Um, I need to go." He pushed away from her lightly and went away into another room.
Once he was gone she realized the others had been watching them. She blushed badly and turned her face away quickly to look out to see the moon, but she what she saw she didn't expect. It was Michael and he was making his way to the front door. Her eyes became saucers and she called for Aloysia to come to the window.
"That bastard... what is he doing here?" Aloysia said looking on his form.
She ran to the door and opened it widely staring at him. Him and her knew that she could take him no problem. She was way older than he was and way stronger as well. He stood there for a moment licking his lips as if there was supposed to be sweat there. Then he realized what he was doing and he let out a sigh.
"Baptista torched the house didn't she?" He asked.
Baptista came to Aloysia's side. His eyes widened a little seeing her long red hair was gone. She stared upon him evilly; he had lived, he was supposed to be dead like the rest of them.
"Yes, I torched the mansion." She admitted with pride. "Have you come here to kill me?"
Michael smiled. He was annoyed by her pride attitude, but he loved it as well. "Actually I'm here to protect you my pet. I don't want anything to happen to you because of your gifts. But Lance is mad, and he's going to kill whoever torched his mansion." He looked over to Aloysia. "He said he'd even kill you, if it was you. But right now he thinks its some vampire hunters, and I'd like it to stay that way."
"So, how many did I kill?" Baptista said.
"Almost all of us my dear. Lucky for us we were in the city." He smiled, wanting to touch her, but she backed away behind Aloysia.
Abivin could smell the reeking smell of Michael near by, he jolted from his chair and went into the hallway, and he saw the door open, Aloysia there before Michael, and Baptista behind her. He went over there as fast as he could. When he was in eyesight of Michael's glance, he snarled and glared at him.
"What is he doing here?" Abivin said moving closer to Baptista to protect her.
"I'm here to protect my pet, Baptista." Michael said, only to make Abivin mad.
Abivin grabbed Baptista's hand and held it tightly, but only just enough that it would make her feel safe. It felt so cold, like icicles wrapping around her warm hand. She squeezed back, but her eyes never left Michael's form. Same with Aloysia.
"Leave us alone." Aloysia said. "If you want to protect her so much, just leave."
Michael shrugged a little bit. "Fine." He turned around and began to leave.
"Is it just me, or was that a little too easy?" Baptista said looking between her two vampire friends.
They both nodded their head in agreement; Aloysia closed and bolted the door. Baptista let go of Abivin's hand and went straight to the window where Mark, Sam, and Gemma were. Michael's form was almost engulfed by the night. She didn't really like being kept alive only because she could talk to dead vampires.
Once on the streets of the town again Michael came across a woman who was applying her makeup in the rearview mirror of her car. He spied around to see if anyone was around, to his luck no one was. He smiled and made his way up to her. He smiled to her sweetly, and bent down as if to ask her something. His vampire teeth flared and he pulled her up to his mouth and bit down and sucked her blood deeply until there was nothing left just about. He opened the car door with ease and pushed her over. He started the car and left towards the city.
He made his way onto a dirt road, and pulled over to the side. He picked up the middle-aged woman and put her into the trunk of her very own car. He'd dump the body later after he had done what he needed to do in the city. He got back in and continued his way to the city, to the Goth Nightclub.
Michael parked the car and made his way into the club. It was darker than normal it seemed and there were fake vampires and dead people all over the place. He began to reminisce about the first time he had met Baptista here. He walked over to the bar stumbling upon people who tried to make him dance. With ease he was able to push them away.
"Holly..." He said catching the eyes of the Queen of Black behind the bar.
"Well, well, well. I'm surprised to see you here again." She said folding her black lips onto his cold clammy cheek.
"It's Lance, I'm sure you've heard on the news about his house being torched." He said staring at the bar. "I'm sure he's paid someone off so they won't investigate."
She nodded giving him a glass of his favourite Last Kiss. "It seems you're worried about something else."
"Remember Baptista Carterson?" He said taking a sweet sip of it.
"Of course I do. She never finished my paintings I paid her for. She just up and disappeared and now I think I know why." She glared at him, her black mascara forming her eyes narrowed.
"She isn't dead if that's what you think." He said.
"Good, maybe I can get my artwork done. Then you can kill her for all I care, but make sure they find the body. Because you know an artist's work is worth more once their dead." She said smiling sinisterly.
"Don't even joke about that. She's my pet." He said. "I'm going to keep her alive as long as I can. But anyway, I've come here for a reason, other than to talk about Baptista. You remember those protesters that came in, saying that you support murderers, as in vampires?"
She scoffed. "Yeah I do, stupid punk kids with nothing better to do with their lives."
"So do you know whereabouts they are?" He said laughing a little under his breath from her reaction. "Because Lance thinks they may have torched his mansion, and if so, he's gonna kill them. One less problem for us, one less problem for you and your husband."
She smiled even more sinisterly. "Of course I do, I know where everyone lives this side of the city." She grabbed a piece of paper and wrote down and address and pushed it across to Michael.
He took it in his hand and stared at it for a moment, he smiled thinking of his plan he was about to set into place, then he stood up and shoved it in his dark blue jeans pocket.
