Chapter Ten: Another Nightmare

After explaining everything to the coven, they were going to decide among the elder people of the coven, and the High Priest who'd be the right person to be the High Priestess. Jordan had never met the High Priest, he was an older man, and he hadn't been to a few of the gatherings because he was sick, but now he was obviously better. His name was Loren. Tallulah run things very oddly according to a lot of traditions, but now things were going to be back on track. A long time passed of discussing, this was a big decision; it decided the fate of the coven. The High Priest thought it'd be well, that a woman named Cynthia would be the right choice.

Jordan went over to hand Cynthia Janine's Book of Shadows, but she refused. She wouldn't normally refuse a gift, because she considered it unlucky, but this was going to be an acceptation. "I want you to keep it, and I think Janine would want you to learn from it."

Jordan thanked her and held the book close to her chest. This was a lot better than she thought. They still were going to use the Morven - Piper house, as they were calling it now...  as their place of meeting. Jordan was just happy to see that everything was back into order.

The next few days were weird for Jordan. Going back to school, and telling people that she had had amnesia and forgotten who she was and was being taken care of by lovely woman named Janine. To her surprise everyone was happy to have her back.

She stayed after school to make up for what she missed from the last two months. The teachers, her mother, Hestia, Skrina, Shina, Aimery, Demeter, and Kaine were all surprise she did that. Not only was she doing that, but also she did it by her own request.

Everyday Kaine would stay after too, not for educational purposes but to give Jordan a ride home. She loved riding with Kaine. He was so cool; he had to be her best friend besides the girls.

Her friendship with Demeter was fading, and they weren't as good friends as they were before. She was getting closer and closer to Hestia. Hestia was so kind, she wouldn't be mean or cross, she didn't even swear. Then again, everyone loved Hestia.

Two more months had passed. Vera was now three months pregnant, Jordan was caught up with her schooling, and they lived in the Morven - Piper home. Without a doubt the girls still lived there. They were a great family that had been separated for a long long time, and now that they were back together, there was no way they were going to let go.

It was the weekend, and Jordan was in her room alone listening to her Sarah McLachlan CDs reading Janine's Book of Shadows. It was hard to read because it was so old and as in Janine's own handwriting, but after a while of concentrating on the words it looked to be clear as day. She was happy Cynthia let her keep it, she was a very nice lady.

Demeter and Shina had moved out of their room and into other rooms of their own in the house. They wanted their privacy. Shina being the older sister, and Demeter having a boyfriend and not wanting the worry of her sisters coming in on them kissing. Hestia and Skrina still shared the room together. Vera had her own room, but she was mostly with Leslie at his house.

There was a knock on Jordan's door. It was soft and gentle. It either had to be Kaine or Hestia. She told whomever to come in, and it was Hestia. "What are you doing up so early?" Jordan asked putting the book down on her lap.

"I don't know, I just woke up early I guess. Usually I sleep in."

Jordan laughed. "What made you so sure I was up anyway? Wait, never mind… Miss Psychic I forgot."

"I'm not Miss Psychic even though I have been working on enhancing my abilities. I say I've been doing really good huh?"

Jordan smiled. "Yeah, really good."

"So, how's Janine's book?"

"It's amazing. She's amazing, the spells in this book, the information, traditions, the rituals, rites. It's just amazing. It even has ways of finding the Great Good and Equal Evil."

Hestia's eyes widened. "Really? Wow!"

"But it will take a lot of practice for me to be able to do it. Anyway, the Oracle told me I would find the Equal Evil first, and the Great Good would be here, and has been here. I don't know, I guess I'll start understanding when it starts happening." Her, Loren, and Cynthia were planning to try and work out the whole situation sometime this week.

"Anyway, you want me to cook you some breakfast?" Hestia smiled sweetly.

"Sure."

"Cool! I'll make you… Well, it'll be a surprise!" She smiled and ran out of the room, down the stairs and into the kitchen and was looking for something to make.

Aimery found his way into the kitchen. Wiping sleep from his eyes and yawning. He had spent the night with Demeter. Hestia just couldn't swallow that. Demeter has changed so much since her and him have been going out, then there was the whole Tallulah thing. She honestly didn't like it, but things change and you can't do anything about it. She really couldn't believe that Leslie allowed him to stay the night. It was just too weird. Then again, she looked at his and Vera's relationship. Too weird.

"What ya making?" He said as he yawned.

"Breakfast, for me and Jordan." She tried to make it plainly that she was only making it for her and Jordan.

"Jordan? What's she doing up so early?"

"Funny question you should be asking." Hestia said cracking an egg onto the frying pan.

"I just had to go to the bathroom, and I heard someone up, so I wanted to see who it was. Now, I'm going back to bed. Good night, I mean good day." He carried his still half-asleep body up the stairs.

Hestia just shook her head and continued making breakfast. She was glad that Jordan and Aimery hadn't gone out, maybe the same effect would happen to her as it did to Demeter. Besides she though Kaine and Jordan made a better couple. Kaine was so nice, what she thought Aimery was in the beginning, but something changed. She didn't know if she could cope with all the change going around, especially when the change didn't really change her. It made her feel like she was being left behind. She just wanted to be where everyone else seemed to be.

Her thoughts were ended by the smell of burnt egg and smoke. She took the egg off and threw it outside for some animal to have. She re-buttered the pan and began frying another egg; this time she was going to pay attention to it. After the eggs were done she made some bacon, toasted up some toast. Then she turned off the stove.

She got plates ready and took them upstairs to Jordan's room. She opened the door with a smile on her face. Jordan's nose was in the book. She looked up when she heard the door creak. Hestia handed her a plate, then sat at the corner of the bed.

"You don't mind if I eat with you?" Hestia asked.

"No, of course not, why did you even ask. You know I always love being with ya girl. Wait, something's the matter… what is it?"

Hestia hesitated. "I'll tell you after we eat okay?"

"Alright."

They began to eat. One of the few good things Tallulah did was teach Hestia to be a wonderful cook. The food was delicious. Jordan wiped her mouth when she was done and set the plate on her nightstand. She noticed Hestia was done too.

"Alright, what's the matter?" Jordan said opening her arms.

Hestia fell into them as she laid next to Jordan on her bed.

"I feel, out of place. I guess is the simplest way of putting it."

"'Out of place'? Why? You are one of the best things here!"

"Really? Why do you think so?" Hestia asked, hoping Jordan was truly sincere because then she would have a purpose if Jordan said so. At least that's how she'd feel.

"You are the nicest person I have ever known. I strive my hardest to be like you more and more everyday."

"What?!" Hestia said shocked.

"What's so surprising about it? I mean if everyone in the world had the tenderness and tolerance you had, there would be world peace. You're the best person I know."

"Really? You really mean that?" A tear rolled down her cheek. "I mean, people show they care, but when they actually say it… it's so… unbelievable!"

Jordan laughed. "Yeah, I know how ya mean, and yes, I really mean it."

Jordan and Hestia stayed that way for a while until they both fell asleep from talking and giggling about things in their life. Hestia never knew that Jordan, the person she had always kind of looked up to, was looking up to her. It was so weird.

Later in the day, Demeter woke up, Aimery was still asleep. She kissed him on the cheek. She slipped down the hallway to her sister's room. Without knocking she went in. Shina was on her computer doing some homework for college.

"Don't you know how to knock? That's why I moved out of the room you know." She laughed, not taking her eyes off the computer screen.

"Well, I wanted to talk to you about something. It's kinda important, otherwise you know I would have knocked."

Shina saved her assignment and closed up her computer. She swerved her black swivel chair towards her sister's direction. "Okay, what is it?"

"I well, it's about last night, when Aimery and I spent the night together…" Demeter looked away. She knew the look her sister was giving her.

"You didn't… Did you?" Were the only words Shina could say.

"Yes, I did. I don't feel at all bad about it. I love Aimery, and he loves me, but… we didn't use…" Demeter paused again.

"Protection?" Shina sighed.

"Yeah. Well, since I know you've… done it, I thought you might be able to help me." Demeter still wasn't looking her sister in the eyes.

"Well, when was your last period?" Shina asked.

She told her the date, and it seemed like Demeter would be safe from being pregnant.

"Well, you know the only way to be sure is going to a doctor, taking a test even though those things never work! Or waiting a long painful, stressful month. Even though even if you get your period it still might mean you are."

Demeter slumped into her chair. Gram Tallulah would know. She'd always know when someone was pregnant. Then again, she didn't know that Vera was. She shook her head. Gram Tallulah was gone, fake, not real. She had to deal with that, she still had to tell her that every once and a while.  "Thanks Shina, and please don't tell anyone about this. Even Aimery, I don't want to worry him."

"Okay, just next time, Please be more careful. Or better yet, don't do it for a long while!" Shina laughed. It seemed to brighten up Demeter and she hugged her before she left.

She couldn't believe it. Her little sister, having sex with some guy. She was growing up too fast. Then again I'm sure that's what Gram Tallulah was thinking the first time Shina had had sex.

During the week Demeter made the purchase of three different kind of pregnancy tests and all had came out negative. She was happy, this must mean she was not pregnant. She had nothing against being pregnant, just not now. She wasn't ready yet.

That night Jordan tucked herself into bed. She put some nice music on, and lit some incense and curled in nice and warm. She was happy spring was coming soon, when things are reborn, new life, trees with leaves. She couldn't wait. She snuggled in her deep spring thoughts and lulled off into slumber.

She woke up to the feeling of someone pulling on her lip. She opened her eyes. It was Aimery. He had her bottom lip in his mouth. His eyes glowing red once again. He had a knife in his hand; he let go of her lip and gently kissed her and handed her the knife and disappeared. She sat up; it was just like her dream before in the shower. She looked at the knife in her hands. It was an athame, a beautiful one. Who did it belong to?

She ran downstairs to see her mother, Hestia, Skrina, Shina, Demeter, Aimery & Leslie all torn apart. She looked at the athame and blood was oozing from the blades. Her eyes widened as she dropped the athame on the ground.

She looked over at her mother, and the baby that was once in her womb looked like it was taken out right through her stomach. Jordan almost vomited on the spot. Then she heard the noise of a young baby cooing in the kitchen. She ran into the kitchen to see a little baby on the ground, covered in blood in the hands of a girl she didn't know, but she couldn't see her face.

Jordan woke up with the feeling of someone tugging on her bottom lip. She quickly opened her eyes. It was Aimery; he was pulling her lip with his fingers. Demeter was behind him giggling. Jordan sat up quick shoving his hands away. "Aimery! Why do you always like scaring the crap out of me?" Jordan yelled, feeling her heartbeat drum rapidly in her chest.

What did this dream mean this time? Aimery was there, and handed her the beautiful athame. The bloody end in the living room, but Aimery was there too, all cut up. Was some sort of spirit trying to warn her? And they were just taking form of Aimery's body to show her? But how would it explain the kiss, his eyes glowing red, and the way he looked at her in the shower? She just shook her head. "Well, thanks for waking me up anyway, I was having a nightmare." She said plainly.

"About what?" Demeter asked.

"Nothing. Just some monster killing everyone." Jordan laughed to herself. Well, she wasn't lying after all.

"Oh-kay…" Aimery said. "No more pizza for Jordan before she goes to bed." He laughed.

"Yeah, maybe that's why I had the dream. It was really intense. But thank the Goddess it was just that, a dream." Jordan shook her head. "So, what do you guys want anyway?"
