Kaine heard the front door close. He went into the living room and covered his parents up with a blanket, and went over to the door and locked it. He went back into his bedroom and closed the door. He picked up all his magickal tools from his bed and put them back into the chest, locked it and shoved it back under his bed. He still couldn't believe that Jordan accused him of so much murder. Then again if he were in Jordan's shoes the thought would have crossed his mind, but he wouldn't have just jumped to conclusions like that. He just couldn't believe it. He laid down on his bed and just stared at the ceiling. Every now and then a tear would go down his face and he'd quickly wipe it off.
Gregg, Jim, Georgia, and Livia came back and they went into the cottage. Livia and Georgia were going to share the bedroom, and the boys were going to use the living room as theirs, just as Vera and Jordan did. Livia just walked in looking like death herself and went into the bedroom. She closed the door behind her. She laid down on the bed and covered up.
"You know, I hope Livia gets better soon." Jim said. "I can't stand to see her like this."
"Don't worry, she'll get better soon. Besides we all had to leave everyone behind when we left. She's not the only one going through pain right now." Georgia said bringing in some Chinese they had picked up on the way back.
"Yeah, and that's what I don't get." Gregg said bringing in some more Chinese. "Why is it effecting her so bad? I mean out of us all, I thought she was the strongest."
Georgia just shook her head and started putting the containers that held won ton soup in them in the refrigerator. "We all know, well maybe I know more than you guys that her 'strength' is just the outer shell. She may put on like she doesn't care about something, but she really does. Maybe she just can't do that anymore. Anyway, once she gets used to this place, she'll be okay. So you guys don't worry no more."
Georgia, Jim, Gregg, and Livia had just moved to Arcville from Florida. They had to leave when people started accusing them for starting fires, grave robbing, and sacrifice of animals for occult reasons in the town. The police told the people of the town there was no way of them to be starting the fires, the grave robbing, and the sacrificed animals that they had found but the people didn't stop harassing them. The four didn't even belong to any occult group, Georgia and Jim were atheist, Gregg and Livia had their own, and they didn't involve sacrificing animals, grave robbing, or starting fires. The townsfolk tried to find every excuse to get them in some sort of trouble. It was absolutely ridiculous. So the four had to leave everyone and everything they knew and loved. They came to Arcville because Georgia had an Aunt Linda that lived near by, and she offered to help them. For now they would have to live in the cottage until Linda could find them something better.
Livia did everything she could to try and convince the townsfolk that they weren't in any occult, and she of all people was absolutely against everything they accused her of. They wouldn't listen to her; it was like she wasn't even saying words to them at all. They had one idea in their head and they just wouldn't get it out. She felt like she had failed herself since she wasn't able to convince them of the truth. She missed her mom, her friends, everyone she loved. All the places she used to go, and everywhere where she liked to visit in Florida.
Livia had heard them in the living room and kitchen talking about her. She cried. She didn't realize how lucky she was right now. She wasn't alone like she thought she was. Pele, her black cat, jumped up on the bed. Pele rubbed her tiny head on Livia's chin. She smiled, and wiped the tears from her face. She petted Pele on the head. Jim opened the door slowly and poked his head in. When he saw Livia's face, knowing that she had been crying he closed the door and came over and sat on the bed. Livia sat up and hugged him, squishing Pele in between the two. She squirmed and squealed wiggling out from them. Livia laughed, still hugging Jim tight.
"Jim, I was really being selfish wasn't I?" Livia said.
"What? No, you just didn't want to leave. I didn't either."
"Yeah, but you didn't put up this fit like I did. I feel so stupid."
Jim was really surprised that Livia was telling him this. She would never share her feelings like this with anyone. Not even Georgia and they were best friends. He combed his fingers through Livia's dark brown hair. "No, but I wished that I could have. I wanted to act like you so bad. I hate feeling like those losers won. But don't worry Livia, one day we can go back. As soon as the tide of that dumb occult goes down. Or maybe…"
Livia looked up and him, letting up on their embrace. "Maybe what?"
"Well, I got a phone call, from Georgia's mom and your mom. When they conjure up enough money, they were thinking of moving up here. They just wanted to know how we liked it up here."
"Really?!" Livia almost screamed.
"Jim must have told Livia about you moms' calling." Gregg said to Georgia.
"Yup." Georgia smiled.
"You mean that Jim? You're not playing with my head?" Livia said ready to strangle him if he was.
"Now would I ever lie to you Livia?" He smiled slyly.
Livia just narrowed her eyes at him, smiling. "I hope not, or you better
hope not. Cuz I'd kill you if you were."
"Oh, sure kill me. Well, I'm not lying. I swear." Jim took his hand and crossed his heart.
Livia hugged him tight again.
"Livia! Livia! I'm glad you're feeling better but I need to breathe!" He laughed.
She lightened up her hold on him and just hugged him normally. Pele was scratching at the door she could smell the food from under the door. Jim and Livia got up and went into the living room.
"For once you can say I'm so wrong Georgia! Livia's better now like you said!" Jim said pushing Livia in front of him.
Georgia just glared at Jim playfully saying he was 'so wrong'.
Pele came out slinking around Jim and Livia's feet and wandered up to Gregg and plopped herself in his lap. He laughed and petted her on the head.
When Jordan got back everyone was back. Jordan went up to her room without saying hello to anyone. She went up with her chalice and Kaine's athame in hand. She locked her door and threw the athame down on the ground. She took the chalice and placed it in the middle of her altar. She cast her circle, then she held her hands high above her head closing her eyes. She chanted over and over words she didn't even know. She didn't know if they even really existed or not or was she just making them up? Then she spoke back into normal English:
"Oracle of the moon Goddess, hear me!
Come to me and give me the answers that I need.
Oracle of the moon Goddess, I call you
Aid the priestess of the moon goddess, I need to know what to do!"
A ball of light swirled from the water inside the chalice and it raised high above to the ceiling. The ball then transformed into the Lady of the Lake. "Lady of the Lake!" Jordan gasped. "I need your help!"
"Yes?" The Lady smiled; she thought it was funny Jordan still called her Lady of the Lake. "What do you need help with young priestess? And why did you not come to the cavern to see me?" The Lady of the Lake floated down to Jordan's level.
Jordan explained to her about her dreams, and what she had done to Kaine. She told her how afraid she was, and she thought that she wasn't able to do everything. Finding both the Great Good and Equal Evil.
"Kaine is not the person of your dreams. He's a big part of everything though, but he's not the killer, but the Equal Evil is, but you must find the Great Good before your dream comes true."
"Then why did I dream of his athame if he's not..." Jordan didn't know what to say.
"It does not have anything to do with Kaine. Its original owner is another matter."
"Who's was it?" Jordan said a little relieved now that Kaine had nothing to do with anything. Though she still felt bad for what she had done earlier.
"Kaine's father, Stanley. It was his athame." The Lady of the Lake disappeared in the air as if she evaporated.
"Wait!" Jordan said running to where the Lady of the Lake was. As if she would be able to yank her back. Then Jordan woke up; the chalice was on her bed stand. She had dreamed the whole thing, but she knew there was more to it than that. It was funny, she didn't even remember falling asleep, she hoped she wasn't turning narcoleptic.
Jordan went over to her bed stand and all the lake water in the chalice was gone. She realized that next time she was going do invoke the Oracle again she would bring more water. She picked up Kaine's athame. So it belonged to his father. What secret did they find out that Gram Tallulah had them kicked out? Or was it just the opposite? What secret about them did Gram Tallulah find out about them and she kicked them out? She knew there were only two ways of finding out. Both she didn't want to do, but she was going to do the safer.
She put down the athame on her bed and went back to her altar. She closed her eyes again and chanted a little to ease herself into a trance, and to cast her circle. Then someone knocked on the door. She glared at the door as if it was its fall. She walked over to the door and opened it. It was Hestia. "Uh, hi Hestia. What ya want?" Jordan said trying to hide her aggravation.
"I'm interrupting something aren't I?" She asked.
"I was just going to do a spell, but it's okay. What do ya want?" Jordan smiled.
"Well, the way you walked in I wondered if something was wrong. Is everything okay?"
"Yeah, there was something, but everything's okay. I had a little chat with the Lady of the Lake, and everything was fine after that. Well, about that subject. Anyway, I've got to go seeking for some more answers…"
"I'll go then. Tell me if everything turns out okay? And don't stress yourself out so much about the Great Good and Equal Evil. Remember Loren and Cynthia are working on this as well. Everything will come out as it is planned. Don't worry." Hestia hugged her tight.
"It's easy for you to say, but thanks." Jordan hugged her back.
"It's easy because I have faith in you. I know you'll do it, we'll make through it."
"Well, you keep havin' faith in me, because I think you're doing it for the both of us."
Hestia just smiled and hugged her again, and kissed her on the cheek and went down the hall. Jordan smiled. She was lucky to have someone like Hestia.
Jordan went over went over to her nightstand and grabbed a piece of paper and pen and wrote that she was doing a spell and didn't want to be disturbed. She walked back over to the door and hung it on by some scotch tape.
She now didn't have that calmness, that serenity like feeling when she was talking to the Lady. She had to get back to that feeling, so she lit some candles, some incense, and closed the curtains in her room. If there were no candlelight, her room would be pitch black. She went back to her altar, she cast her circle, and kneeled down on the ground. She chanted to get back into her trance-like state. Then when she felt comfortable she began her spell.
I call to the realm of souls for my need
I call to the realm of souls to hear me
Gram Tallulah I have a question for you to answer
I need to know why you banished Stanley Foster.
Gram Tallulah came through the floor. She looked at Jordan, then around like she was lost for a moment.
"Wow..." Jordan said in awe. "I need to know something Tallulah."
"What do you need?" She said calmly.
Jordan was happy to see that Tallulah wasn't angry with her. "I've been having these dreams..."
"I know." Tallulah said simply.
"I need to know why you kicked out the Foster family from the coven." Jordan said playing with her shirt. It was different talking to the Lady, but she was talking with the dead. It was the same kind of creepy feeling she felt when talking to Janine, but more intense.
Tallulah grabbed Jordan tight by the hand. Jordan tried to jolt away, but she couldn't. Tallulah went into her mind's eye and found the dream. She watched it as if it Jordan's head was a movie theater. She left go of Jordan and backed away.
"I didn't want to banish Kaine and his mother, but as you know there is something about Stanley. And I found out what. He was actually in a very twisted cult and had planned to sacrifice the coven and take a child from one of the pregnant women of the coven. There was only one at that time. That was Colleen, the girls' mother. She was pregnant with Demeter at the time. So I banished them. That was your dream, but with the ones you loved. It either means he plans to do it again, or it was trying to show you a vision of the past in it's own twisted way." Tallulah sighed. "Aren't visions lovely. Anyway, Stanley always played it off to Kaine and his mother as if I was the bad guy. There you have your answer."
Tallulah disappeared down into the floor again. Jordan just stayed in place for a moment, not believing what she just had heard. She woke up again, but this time on the floor in front of her altar. What the heck? She thought. She just guessed she went into a trance that was just about sleeping. She didn't understand how she was talking to these people, but as long as it was helping her friends and family, she didn't care how the information was coming to her.
