Chapter Twenty One: Nightmares and Dreamscapes

The morning echoed with the sound of birds chirping outside Jordan's window. She opened her eyes to the delight of the sound only to find dismay in front of them. Kaine there on the floor cut up into a bloody mess. Livia was nowhere to be found. Jordan quickly got up and went down stairs. The coven like Kaine was, was brutally slaughtered. A single tear shed down her face, more would of followed but she was in too much of shock to do so. She heard laughing in the kitchen, sinister giggling of a girl, and the sound of maniacal laughing of a man. Then a sound she didn't expect to hear; the cooing of a baby. She ran to the kitchen and the doors seemed to fly open by themselves. Jordan's mouth dropped down to the floor when she saw her mother cut up head to toe on the ground. A big gaping hole in her stomach where the four month old baby was. Then she looked up to a girl covered in blood. It was Livia, holding the tiny child. Livia was that girl from her dream before. She totally forgot about that until she saw Livia standing there. But that was impossible, the baby inside her mother was only four months old! A man was standing next to Livia, Jordan couldn't make him out, it was like he was a big bloody blur. Livia glared at Jordan.

"What a great witch you are." She said sarcastically. "You can't even protect your coven for one single day." Livia laughed and had a quite evil smirk on her face. "You know, if you could have protected the coven like you were supposed to, if you protected me like you were supposed to, none of this would have ever happened!"

Jordan just stood there, she couldn't speak, she could hardly breathe. This had to be another dream. It just had to be. She opened her mouth to say something but nothing would come out.

"Why didn't you protect me Jordan?" Livia cocked her head to a side. "I thought you said you'd protect me. Isn't that what you promised Jim?"

"How… did you know that?" Jordan mustered out.

The man chuckled a little to himself and held out his arms. Livia handed the baby to him. Then she turned back to Jordan. "You didn't answer my question Jordan. You were supposed to protect me. Why didn't you protect me?!" Livia lashed out towards Jordan and knocked her to the floor.

"I didn't know, I didn't know this all was going to happen so quickly. The tarot cards said…" Livia smacked her in the face stopping Jordan's words.

"'Ooh, the tarot cards said!' " Livia said mockingly. "What did the tarot cards say? That you'd be the hero and save the day? Well, I don't think you're all that of a superhero because I'm sitting on top of you, covered in your mother and the rest of your coven's blood and screams."

Jordan got an arm free and punched Livia in the face. Livia fell back holding her nose, but only for a moment. Jordan saw the glare Livia was giving her behind those hands. Her eyes were glowing red. Jordan quickly got up so she was off the ground. The man raised his hand as soon as Livia jumped up from where she was and charged towards Jordan. As soon as the man's hand was raised it was as if time had stopped, except the man and Jordan. The man turned towards Jordan, and the entire blur started to melt away, and his face revealed to be Aimery's. Jordan's eyes widened and then all a sudden turned confused. A shimmer of red glow swam through his eyes for a moment. Aimery just smiled and handed her Kaine's lovely athame.

"Kill the monster with this…" He whispered.

Jordan looked over at Livia. "I can't kill her, she's my friend, and I was suppose to protect her. I promised him that I would."

"Jim is dead. Kill the monster with this…" He whispered once again.

"I can't…" Jordan said.

Aimery raised his arm again and time started again. Livia was charging towards Jordan. Jordan jumping in late back into time, turned around and the blade of the contaminated athame met with Livia's chest. Jordan froze and her hands slipped from the athame's handle. Her mouth open, but no sounds came out. Livia just stood there with tears coming down her eyes. Her mouth open with desperate gasps to hold onto life.

"You said you'd protect me…" Livia's body shaking, she was trying to keep her soul within her body. But when she breathed her last breath her body fell to the floor.

Jordan just stood there, staring at Livia's dead body. She couldn't believe what she had just done. Livia's blue eyes, still open, began to burn through Jordan's. She shook her head and looked away, she looked to where Aimery was, and he was gone.

"Jordan!" A distant voice said above her head.

Jordan's eyes flipped open to see Jim's face above hers. She took her hand and wiped her face. it was covered in sweat.

"Jordan, are you okay? You were having a terrible nightmare." Amenia said, sitting next to Jim.

Jordan shook her head. "That's putting it mildly."

"Wanna talk about it?" Jim asked.

"Where's Livia? Where's Aimery? Where's my mom?" Jordan said getting up quickly searching through the crowded living room full of sleeping people in sleeping bags.

"Calm down, they're fine." Amenia said. "I was just upstairs and Livia is still asleep on your bed, and you're mom, and Aimery are in the garden with Demeter, Skrina, Georgia, Hestia, and Gregg."

Jordan took in some deep shallow breaths. "What time is it?"

"It's about seven thirty." Amenia said looking at her watch.

"I'm going out to the garden." Jordan said walking away suddenly.

Amenia looked to Jim. "Is she always like this?"

Jim shook his head. "No, it's just that she is really stressed, hey I would be too if I was a teenager one day and then a girl with this responsibility the next. She has to handle all this bull crap from this psycho Stanley dude."

Amenia smiled. "Yeah, I know. It's been stressing us all out. But she seems to think its just solely her responsibility."

Jordan stomped out to the garden. This is it, she was finally gonna do it. She walked over to Aimery and asked if she could talk to him alone. He looked a little unsure for a moment but then agreed to, the way she was acting was a little weird. Demeter picked up on this vibe too, but she just looked at Georgia but they didn't say a word.

Jordan and Aimery walked back into the house. She dragged him in by the hand and took him into the study where she knew no one would be, or hoped anyway. She was right and it was empty so she took him inside.

"Okay, this is it. I have to ask you why the heck are you in my dreams. Why are you giving me Kaine's athame? Why are you telling me to kill Livia?" Jordan knew she sounded ridiculous, but she had to get this out, and hoped she could get some answers.

"What?" Aimery looked at her oddly. "What are you talking about? I'm in your dreams? I never told you to kill Livia. I would never do that."

"I know, I'm sorry, I just hat to get that out. Let me make this a little more clear to you then." Jordan took in a deep breath and told him in complete detail all her dreams. Even though she was kind of a little embarrassed to tell him.

"I did those things in your dreams? Why would you be dreaming things like that? I mean the person who is me in your dreams sounds an awful lot like Stanley. Maybe it's him doing that. I mean he took on my form in front of Livia." Aimery said playing with a pen.

He's right. It's always been Aimery and Livia. Aimery and Livia. That's how Stanley's been portraying himself. Jordan looked at Aimery. "Have you had any dreams? Anything odd, like the voice Skrina heard? Or the vision Livia saw?"

Aimery shook his head no. "I wish I could be more help. I'm glad you told me your dreams though. I mean I always feel like I'm not in this at all, and now I'm in the circle with you. I actually know what's going on around here."

Jordan sighed and forced herself to make a half side smirk. "Yeah thank you too."

Aimery looked at her odd again. "For what? Letting you vent?"

Jordan smiled. "Yeah. Come on, let's go back outside before they all think I've gone mental or something."

Aimery laughed and grabbed her hand and they ran out the study and to the garden. Jim looked at the two with jealousy in his eyes. It was only a flash, he knew Aimery loved Demeter, he just hoped it stayed that way. Amenia giggled, she saw the green gleam in his eye.

"I'll be right back." Aimery said when the two got outside in the garden. "I've got to go to the bathroom."

Livia woke up on Kaine's chest. His cologne smelling as good as if he had just put it on. She took in a deep breath and inhaled the smell off his shirt. She tilted her head up and looked at his face. He was still sleeping. She got up quietly and went to the bathroom. She looked at herself in the mirror. She looked a mess. She took Jordan's hairbrush and began to brush her hair. She closed her eyes for a moment lingering on the smell of Kaine's cologne, it was in her own clothes. Then someone sifted their fingers through her hair. She jumped and turned around. No one was there.

"Oh no… not again…" She whispered.

The invisible fingers went through her hair again. When she looked in the direction where the person would be to do so, no one was there.

"Leave me alone." She said in a quiet voice.

"Wouldn't you love to be Jordan. Wouldn't you love to be center of attention? You could. You could have all the power you desire. You could have it if only you'd take it."

"I said leave me alone. I don't want anything to do with you. I'm not bad. I'm good. I don't want to be Jordan. I don't want to be center of attention. I'm fine with the way I am now." She said angrily.

"You like Kaine don't you?" The voice said tauntingly.

"If you must know, yes I do. It's none of you're business who I like. And if you think if you try and hurt him I'll do anything you want you can forget about it!" Livia said almost yelling.

"I don't want to do anything to Kaine… yet… and if I do anything to him, it doesn't have anything to do with you. Though I thought you should know, he's in love with Jordan. Matter o' fact they've even already kissed. There's no room in their world for you Livia. Come and join the people who will love you."

Livia scoffed. "Oh yeah, like you'd know anything about love. Now as I said, leave me alone. I'm not afraid of you. Obviously you're afraid of me because you won't even show yourself to me."

"It's not the fact that I won't show myself to you, it's the fact that I can't. This land is protected by a spell that Janine witch put on here."

"Whatever, will you leave me alone now?" Livia said agitated.

Jordan walked up to her bathroom door. She could hear Livia talking to someone. But no one was talking back. Leave me alone? Who was she talking to in there? Jordan knocked on the door. Livia jumped and the brush fell from her hand. Livia went to the door and opened it.

"Hi, sorry,  I didn't mean to scare you Livia." Jordan said peering inside the bathroom. No one was in there.

"It's okay. I was coming out anyway." Livia leaned down and picked up the brush. "I knocked this down when you knocked on the door."

Jordan faked a smile. "It's alright. Anyway, I was wondering now, if you could do me a favor. Would you wake up Kaine for me?"

"Why? Do you like him or something?" Livia asked, almost sounding as if she was snapping back some remark.

"Only as a friend Livia." Jordan smiled. She leaned over and whispered in her ear. "I know you like him." She giggled a little and walked towards the door. "So you think you could do that favor for me? Wake the bum up?"

Livia smiled, that was off her chest now. That voice was just messing with her. It just said that so she'd hate Jordan for some reason. To join its side. "Yeah, I can definitely do that."

Jordan smiled and walked out the door. She was still wondering who Livia was talking to. She knew that Livia would tell her if it were Stanley again. Or at least she hoped she would.

Livia walked over to Kaine and shoved him lightly. "Hey sleepy-head, wake up." She whispered loudly.

He just groaned and turned over. Livia laughed and shoved him again. He just groaned again, saying he didn't want to get up. Livia giggled again and started poking him with her finger. He inhaled deeply and opened his eyes. He jumped up and grabbed Livia, knocking her down on the other side of the bed. He was lying on top of her laughing now.

"That wasn't funny Kaine. You scared me to death. Don't do that." Livia said laughing, hitting his arm playfully.

"If it wasn't so funny, why are you laughing?" He smiled evilly and started tickling her.

She began to laugh uncontrollably. The only words that she could mutter out were "stop it" between giggles. He laughed and stopped. He just stared at her for a moment. She didn't know what to think right now. He was staring at her? Now what should she do? Just sit there and stare back? Or say something? Right now she was too hypnotized by his green eyes to say anything at all. So she was going to wait until he said something first, which wasn't too far away.

"Has anyone told you that you've got the most amazing blue eyes?"

Livia blushed a little, which no matter what she could do she couldn't hide. "No."

"Really? Then there are a lot of insane guys in Florida then."

Livia laughed. "Oh, you're just saying that. My eyes aren't great. They're just boring blue."

Kaine shook his head. "No, they're beautiful. Dark dark blue circles around the edges, a gray in the middle and light blue as if they were lightning streaks in your eyes. You have amazing eyes."

"No, you got the amazing eyes. Anyway, before we argue about this all day, can you get off of me now? I don't want to make an indent into Jordan's bed of my body." She smiled.

Kaine laughed and rolled off of her on his back and looked up at the ceiling. Livia cocked her head and stared at him.

"What are you thinking about?" She asked.

"What makes you think I'm thinking about something?" Kaine said being a smart aleck with a huge smile on his face.

"The way you are looking at the ceiling, the expression you have on your face. It just looks like you have something on your mind." She laid down next to him and looked up at the ceiling. "Because I know a ceiling isn't that interesting."

"Okay you caught me, I am thinking about something, but it's nothing I really want to talk about." He didn't take his eyes off the ceiling. He felt that if he looked at Livia, having her looking at him would change his mind immediately.

"It's okay. You don't have to tell me." She smiled and looked out the window at the sunshine glowing on everything. "I don't like to share things, as you know, so I understand."

"I don't want to seem like I'm prying, but, why don't you like to share things?"

Livia shrugged. "I guess I don't want people figuring out my problems when I can't figure them out myself. I like to find out things by myself. That's how it's always been."

Kaine turned his head and looked at her. She didn't notice because she was watching a mother bird feed her babies. "Why do you have to do everything alone? I can't see why, I mean you have a lot of people who care about you around you all the time."

"I think that's why, I mean, I have everyone around me and that's great. But I need to know I can accomplish something by myself, especially about myself. People spend their whole lives trying to figure themselves out, and I think I have myself figured out pretty much."

Kaine was impressed. He didn't know this really intelligent girl was part of Livia. She seemed so quiet and withdrawn. Insecure and unsure about her life when she was exactly the opposite. I guess you can't judge a book by its cover. He thought.

"Oh yeah!" Livia said smacking herself in the forehead. "Jordan wanted me to wake you up for some reason. I think she wanted to talk to you."

"Oh? Why? Did she tell you?"

"No, I don't know if she even wants to talk to you, she just told me to wake you up. And besides I'm hungry, let's go." She got up off the bed and gave him a hand.

Kaine took it and got out of bed. They walked downstairs, Livia went right to the kitchen and Kaine was looking for Jordan among the people who were still sleeping then moved on to the other rooms. He ran into Amenia, Jim, and Shaine in the Dinning room.

"Hey do you know where Jordan is?" He asked.

"She's in the garden with everyone else that is up." Amenia replied.

He said thank you and made his way out to the garden. Hestia greeted him with a smile as she was walking back into the house. He smiled back and went outside. He went over to Jordan and asked her if she needed to talk with him. She nodded and they walked over where they could be alone.
