Chapter Twenty Five: The Wheel

The sound of sirens soon filled the air. The police came and the questions began. It was so noisy; the mundane world seemed to slip from Jordan's view. It all seemed to be melting together. It was happening so fast but it was seen only in slow motion. The police took Aimery away, and the two beloved friends gone where taken away from the house. Livia was taken away in an ambulance to the hospital. Gregg, Georgia, and Jim followed behind in their van.

Jordan looked over to her mother and Leslie. A tear rolled down her eyes. Vera leaned over and hugged her tight. Leslie wanted to hug Jordan and Vera, but he didn't know if he could. He felt like such a failure. To think that his own son was involved into something like that simply tore his heart into a thousand little pieces. How could he have not known?

Jordan cocked her head and looked up at him. "It's not your fault Leslie. As I told Livia, evil and good are in us both. That's the Great Good and Equal Evil, both are so powerful, and they're always fighting with each other, and this is the result of that battle." She reached out her arm and made him join the embrace, and that seemed to begin to mend his torn heart.

On the beach looking out onto the lake Shina held Demeter's urn in her hand. It was gold and a light blue, swirling in an everlasting circle. Jordan smiled and thought that that will always be her. She will go on, but never be forgotten. Shaine stood next to Shina holding Amenia's urn. Hers was like Demeter's only red and gold. Behind them Jordan stood with Skrina, Hestia, and June. Behind them, Cynthia and Loren, then were the rest of the coven members. They knew they were going to miss their friends who had left, but knew that these girls were going to start on a brand new journey and give more people the happiness that they had with them.

Shina and Shaine walked into the cold lake water.

We know you've joined the stars.
Become one with Venus and Mars.
We know you'll be starting a new journey.
As the lake becomes one with the sea.

They opened the urns and scattered the ashes out into the lake. In one big gulp the waters swallowed the ashes up. The other coven members came over and tossed in bunches of flowers and pouches. They all said their own little silent prayer to ease their friends on their new beginning.

Livia had three red roses in her hands, and whispered to the waves her words, "Please Amenia, Demeter, forgive me, if it wasn't for me, you guys would still be alive. I hope you have a good journey, and a good new life. As far away from me the better." A tear rolled down her eyes, from the pain of loosing two great people from her life and from clenching the roses. She opened her hand that was covered in tiny little pricks. Crimson liquid beaded up from them quickly. She threw in the roses. The waves swallowed them up and they disappeared into the dark water.

Gregg came over to Livia and put his arm around her. "I'm pretty sure they forgive you Livia." He kissed her on the cheek and walked over to Jordan.

Livia just shook her head, then she looked out to the water and a surprised look came across her face. One of the roses had come back. She bent down and picked it up. She smiled and looked around, then she focused her deep dark ocean eyes back on the rose. She gave it a gentle kiss and threw it back into the lake.

Everyone was heading back to go back to their homes. When no one was looking Jordan closed her eyes and imagined her soul creeping off to her little cavern. She lit herself a torch and went down in the cavern. She called the Lady of the Lake to come out. A white moon glow filled the cavern, and then formed itself into the beautiful Lady.

"Lady of the Lake, why did Demeter and Amenia have to die?" Jordan simply said.

"They died to teach and test you and your coven's, strength, togetherness, and faith." The Lady of the Lake said smiling at the title Jordan called her.

"But, why? Couldn't the lesson be taught in some other way? I mean it hurt Leslie and Livia so much. It hurt us all, but I think them the most."

The Lady of the Lake smiled. "You always ask the questions you cannot be told. You have to figure them out on your own. That's what is going to make you such a good High Priestess."

"Yeah, I guess my questions are always a little extreme. Like asking the meaning of life." Jordan chuckled.

"That's exactly what you are asking. If you found out why things happen all at once, life would not be worth living." The Lady spoke. "Without pain, without strife, there is no good lesson to come out."

Jordan sighed. "Just when I think I understand the Great Good and Equal Evil, there's always more to it."

The Lady of the Lake smiled, and slowly began to disappear into the cavern walls. And soon Jordan's soul slipped fast back into her body.

"Thank you for everything Goddess, for my guardian, for the wisdom, my friends, and the strength to get through tough times." Jordan began to walk out and catch up with her friends when she heard the sweet whisper of the Lady's voice.

"Demeter and Amenia aren't the only one's on their way on a grand new beginning…with every death and every birth brings a faster spin on the wheel of life." --- The End.
