Chapter Four: Love Guidance

"Want me to walk you home Milady?" He put out his arm for Jordan to take it.

Jordan smiled and she took his arm. They walked down the street together and he stopped at the cottage right before hers.

"This is where I live. What place do you live in?"

"Right there." As she pointed to the yellow cottage parallel to his.

Aimery walked her up to the door being a very nice gentlemen. He was the nicest guy she has ever met, and she has met a lot of guys moving. None of them were as wonderful as Aimery. She invited him in to meet her mother. He smiled and told her he would love to. They walked inside her mom was sitting on the sofa bed she looked over to her daughter. She wasn't expecting for Jordan to be bringing a boy home. This is really the first time she had ever done it. She introduced Aimery to her mother. He was just as sweet to Vera as he was to Jordan.

He stayed for a while and chatted with Jordan and Vera. He told them that he had just came here from Canada and him and his father had moved in next door yesterday evening, late at night. He was really glad to have met Jordan, he never knew that someone could be in the same situation as him, moving all the time, not fitting in. He was happy though that this would be his last move for a long time. He looked at his watch; he sighed and said;

"Oh man, I've got to go. My dad's gonna be home, and we have to go out and get some groceries. I'll talk to you guys later! It was very nice meeting you! Maybe you can come over to dinner when we are settled in!" He ran out the door, closing it gently so it wouldn't slam. Though he didn't do the same for his, because Jordan and Vera could hear it from their living room. They both laughed.

Jordan looked and her mom and then fainted on the sofa bed. She went on and on about how Aimery was so perfect, how he was so nice, what a gentlemen he was. Vera smiled and played with her daughter's long hair that flowed like an inferno on the flower pattern of the sofa cover.

She put her head on her mother's lap and felt the softness of her dress between her fingers. She took in a deep breath, and thought of Aimery playing with her hair. Slowly she drifted off to sleep and dreamt about him just holding her in his arms. Listening to his heart beat in his chest. Going along with his body as his breathed each breath. Once she was fast asleep her mom picked her up and took her into her room and laid her down in her bed.
Later in the evening, it was about eight o'clock, Jordan woke up. She was in her room, and she was alone. At first she didn't know where she was. Then she shook it off and she realized she was home, and that this was going to be home for a long while. She was really insecure about having a base, having a home. She didn't want to live the life like of a gypsy anymore.

She got up from her bed and stretched. She looked over to her dresser and there was a note, two books, some candles, and some incense. The note was from Tallulah, she read it out loud to herself.

Dearest Jordan,
You were sleeping so I left you a book about magick, study it. It is of my own words. I had written it when I was watching your mother. I did it in the plan of her ever having a child. I thought the book was lost but today, when it rained I had found it. You have something with the rain don't you? There are some small candles of every colour of the rainbow, test some things out when you think you are ready, and use the incense if you need them. But I think it will be a while before you use anything. I want you to really study the Book before you do anything. Okay? The other book is your Book of Shadows. It should contain your spells, information, poetry, anything that involves magick.  It's the key to become a witch, which we all know you will be. I hope to see you soon for your lessons with me.
Love,
Gram Tallulah

She smiled. She was so lucky to have Gram Tallulah; otherwise she would not know which way to go with her magick. She needed a teacher, and she needed to find things out for herself. This was a great book to study from; it was a book made out for her. Any other questions she could ask when she sees Gram Tallulah.

Jordan looked at each candle, then smelling each of the incense. Then she picked up the Book of Shadows. It was beautiful. It was based in black and had etchings of silver. The major etch was a pentacle with vines twisting around it. Around the edges of the corner were little stars, moons, and suns. She opened it up and the pages were of course blank. She took out a pen and wrote her first thing her inspiration had bolted her to do.

Thank you Great Goddess for showing me the way
And in your arms of wisdom I will forever stay
Thank you Great Goddess for showing me the light
And in your arms keep my magick away from pain and blight

She closed her Book of Shadows and went over to her bed. She took out her schoolbooks even though it was hard to concentrate she did her homework. Once she got that done she took out Tallulah's book and started to read it. She got so intent in the book it was ten o'clock when she realized she hadn't had anything to eat for supper. She walked into the living room and to her surprise Aimery was there.

"Hi Sleeping Beauty." He said.

She looked over to her mother and wondered why she didn't wake her up when Aimery was up, or even check all those two hours that she was awake.

"What are you doing her Aimery?" Jordan asked politely.

"I came to see you, but you were sleeping, so I kept your mom company."

"When did you come over, and why didn't you wake me up anyway?"

"You looked so peaceful sleeping. I didn't want to disturb you."

She smiled. "Don't think I'm rude, but I've got to get something to eat! I'm starving!" She ran into the kitchen and cooked something quick in the microwave.

Aimery looked to Vera and laughed a little. Aimery stayed for another hour, Jordan took him into her room, she hid her "witch stuff", even though he had witch friends, she wanted to get to know him on a normal basis first. They talked some more and got to know each other better. He had to leave at eleven because they had school in the morning, they agreed to walk up to the bus stop in the morning. She walked him out to the porch, before he left to his house he gave her a big hug.

"What was that for?" Jordan asked, because it felt so powerful.

"I really needed that. Thanks for being there for me, I especially need someone like you in my life right now Jordi. Well, I got to go. See you in the morning Milady." He bowed before her, then laughed as he went back to his house.

Jordan laughed. No one has ever called her Jordi and hasn't had a black eye or their ear rung out by her yelling at them. She hated being called Jordi, but some how it seemed different when he called her that. She also felt really wonderful inside hearing someone say that they needed her. If only he knew that she needed him as much as he needed her.

It was morning and Jordan had gotten herself all ready. She was going to bring Tallulah's book with her so she could read it during study hall. She knew today that she wasn't going to have the much homework, because it was Friday, and on Fridays she had two study halls. Then she heard a knock on the door; it had to be Aimery. So she hugged and kissed her mother goodbye and answered the door. She was right. It was Aimery. He was looking really good today, better than yesterday. He smiled when he saw Jordan ready to go. She said bye to her mom one more time, and he said goodbye to her as well. She shut the door and smiled at him. He put out his arm and she took it and they walked up the hill to the stop.

Demeter saw two young people who seemed to be lovers coming up Jackson Street. Then to her surprise she realized who it was! It was her best friend Jordan and the boy she was in love with. She got really jealous at the sight of all this. She shook her head. Aimery didn't belong to her, and this was Jordan, she couldn't let jealousy get in front of their friendship.

Aimery said hi to Demeter, and Hestia and Skrina joined in the conversations they were having. They all liked Aimery. There was something about him; he was like a magnet. It sounded pretty strange coming from someone that was like Jordan, always picked on at school and harassed. Then again Jordan had the same magnetism in this school as he did, but his seemed more powerful, magickal even. That's what everyone loved about him too, he seemed so perfect, so polite. The guys didn't think he was just being a wuss. They seemed to respect him.

It was the night before Halloween, All Hallow's Eve, Samhain. Jordan had been studying Tallulah's book regularly. She went to see her for some private sessions a couple of times, whenever she needed a question answered. Jordan had basically figured out everything by herself. That's what Tallulah and Vera were very proud of. She seemed to be really linked with the Mother Earth, even more than Demeter.

She had done quite a few spells and each one she's put in her Book of Shadows. Tallulah also gave her tools that she could use, but the thing was, Jordan would have to find them. They could be anywhere in the village where they lived. Jordan thought this was kind of interesting and good for her magick.

The first thing she found was her athame. It was in the pit of where a fire once was, in a black velvet cover. She picked it up and unsheathed the athame. It was nine inches long, from tip to handle end, and the double-edged blade was so warm, it felt like she was touching someone's finger. On the black handle there was carved a five-pointed star and a crescent moon. She did a spell to consecrate it, and she knew from reading Tallulah's book that this magickal knife was not to cut things or to touch blood. That's its use was symbolic.

After her consecration ritual she had made and finished the first time on her lovely athame, she went to her little spot, her inner sanctum she had. She walked along the beach for a while until she had gotten to it.

It was a little cave inside the hill. No one knew it was there because it was covered with a blanket of moss. She only found it because she was leaning against it to tie her shoe and she fell through. She had taken some pieces of flat wood and made a door, and got locks for both sides and hammered them on there. So only she could get in and out. She had put lots of little shelves in there, and that's where she kept most of her candles, incense, and other magickal tools that she did have that she did for special magickal rites in there. It was her little sanctuary away from the mundane world.

She went in and she made a small fire where she had made herself a little pit. Then she lit the candles and incense and held her athame high above her head. She closed her eyes and the smoke and light in the little cave seemed to dance all around her. She turned around slowly in a circle, consecrating a sacred space to perform her magick in, and pointed her body away from the lake, south. She took in a deep breath and spoke her chant.

Goddess Pele you fill me with fire
Goddess Aphrodite you fill me with desire
Goddess Athena you fill me with reason
Come together and bring me the decision
If it's right - Pele fill me with more fire
If it's right - Aphrodite fill me with more desire
If it's right - Athena fill me with reason
Oh hear me Great Goddess, Mother Earth
Have your heavenly children aid my hearth!
Give me guidance; speak to me if this love has pure worth!

Of course this was a spell about Aimery. Over the week or so since they've met they've got really close. So have Aimery and Demeter, she wanted the Goddesses' help to know whether it was a good idea to pledge out her feelings to Aimery. Like every teenager she didn't want to feel stupid. To give him her heart when he didn't want it.

The fire grew bright as it began to glow. It seemed to embrace Jordan holding her tight. The fire was all around her yet it didn't burn her skin and nothing that belonged to her. The athame grew a bright white and surged itself down into her arm and into her heart. It consumed her body and the energy filled out the cave and slipped out into the beach and up the hill and hit Aimery in the heart as well. This was not a love spell, if his feelings for her were already there, they'd shove him in the right direction. Then the bright light faded and the intensity stopped. It was like a rush, and Jordan opened up her eyes and looked around.

She had looked up to the sky and towards the south, north, east, and west and thanked the Goddess at each direction she faced. Then she closed her circle, grounding the energy she had raised. She knew that everything was going to be okay. She put out the fire and made sure it was completely out. She blew out each candle and if the incense were not all out she put them out as well. She put the spell in her Book of Shadows once she was out into the beach, then she locked her sanctum up and went up the beach to the hill, and to her house.

She was so tired from this spell; it took a lot of her energy. As soon as she got into the house she had to read a letter left on the coffee table from her mother.

Jordan,
You were off on your magickal tool hunt
So I went over to Gram Tallulah's.
So I guess I will see you over here later,
Please be here by seven, or I'll begin to worry!
Love, Mom

She laughed as she put the note back down. It was only six, she had an hour to sleep and get her rest. She set her alarm clock, grabbed herself a drink, and laid down on her bed. Within an instant she fell fast asleep. Her Book of Shadows clung to her chest.

She had a nightmare that seemed to be so real. Demeter and Aimery were going to date. It showed Aimery kissing Jordan on the cheek, saying that he did like her, but he like Demeter more. But her spell, it showed that Aimery loved only her. Maybe she put the spell wrong, it was true, Aimery did in fact like her, but it didn't feel right. Her spell felt like it was right, but something changed.

Jordan woke up with a flash hearing a noise. She opened her eyes and threw her alarm clock across the wall. She rubbed her eyes, smearing her makeup, but she had to wipe the sleeping nightmare away from her eyes. She knew what she dreamt was going to come true, she cried hard. She really and truly liked Aimery. She tried convincing herself it was okay, and there were plenty of other guys that would love to date a girl like her. Which was true, but she wanted Aimery! She couldn't and wouldn't want to see Demeter right now knowing that she was going to get the boy she loved. She just hoped that this wasn't going to interfere with their friendship. Deep down inside she knew it was going to anyway.

So Jordan called over and told them that she wasn't going to come over, she was really tired and that she had found the athame. She hung up the phone on Hestia without saying goodbye. By that, Hestia knew something was terribly wrong. She looked at Tallulah and asked if she could go over there. That something was the matter, and she needed to help. Tallulah nodded her head. Hestia put on her black jean jacket and headed to Jordan's place.

Until Hestia got there Jordan planned to spend the whole night crying. Maybe that would get all her feelings out. It has been a long time since Jordan had just cried and let everything out. She heard a knock on the door. She looked out the window, but she couldn't see anyone. She turned on the porch light and opened the door. For once she didn't care about how she looked, or if anyone saw her crying.

Hestia took one look at her and her eyes widened like saucers. "Jordan! What's the matter hun?"

"Come in, and I'll tell you." Jordan signaled Hestia to come in and she shut the door and locked it, as if to keep any other person that may of heard Hestia's exclamation.

Jordan went into her bedroom. Hestia and her sat on her bed. Hestia went over and hugged her tight. Once again she asked what the matter was, and Jordan told her everything. Even the dream. She cried even harder than she would have all night telling Hestia. She had never ever poured her heart out to anyone about something that troubled her so much. It felt good not having to keep it all inside.

"So you did this spell to see if Aimery was the right guy for you?" Hestia asked. "What were the exact words?"

Jordan repeated the words to her spell; she remembered them by heart even though she only made it up tonight.

"I know it seems that I did the spell as it was, but something's changed. I knew that what I did said he was for me, and for me only. I don't know what's the matter."

"Well, it seems that the spell is done as it said it would. He does have feelings for you. Well, in the dream he does…"

"It wasn't a dream!" Jordan protested. "It was a vision of the future! Maybe I'm just fooling myself. The spell I did was cast right. He does have feelings for me, but not as strong as the ones he has for Demeter."

Jordan laid her head on Hestia's lap. Hestia knew that there was nothing else she could do to comfort her except sing. Hestia had the most heavenly voice; she sang and lulled Jordan back to sleep.
