Chapter Eight: Back from the Dead

The Lady waved her white glowing arms and Jordan felt like she was swept in some sort of time warp. She opened her eyes feeling groggy. Pain in her forehead… Pain in her forehead?! She felt her arms and her legs, she looked around. She was alive! She had a silver pentacle around her neck. It was shaped as vines surrounding the five-pointed star. She tucked it under her shirt. She knew it was Janine's she remembered seeing it around her ghostly neck. The Lady's voice echoed in her head telling her what to do.

Everyone at the Morven felt a strong feeling, it was Jordan, but it wasn't. It was an odd feeling. About a half an hour from that time, Vera came in the house smiling, almost dancing. The girls and Tallulah wondered why she was so happy. She looked at all of them her smile gleaming.

"I'm pregnant!" She squealed.

They all looked at each other. Tallulah really thought her relationship with Leslie was going all too fast. It had a lot to do with Jordan missing, but now that they had felt Jordan's presence... had Jordan been reborn into this world as her own sister or brother? Hestia wondered if she was right about her coming back theory.

Vera explained the weird feeling that the girls and Tallulah had, about Jordan, but not Jordan when she got the results. She thought the same thing as them. That this baby had something to do with Jordan, whether it was her blessing, or it was Jordan reborn in her life. They all had happy smiles on their faces.

Kaine was sitting on the beach, by the doorway of Jordan's inner sanctum. He was thinking about Jordan. What really happened to her? If she was alive… why hadn't she come back? He really didn't know her, but somehow she haunted his dreams every night, and he thought about her every day. Her appearance into his life, and her exit came all too soon. Then he heard this tapping sound behind him. He went over where the door had used to be. He heard something hammering on the other side. Someone was stuck in there! He got a large piece of driftwood that had been sitting there since summer; it was hard pulling it up since it was stuck by ice. He raised it high and crashed it against the covered doorway. The rocks fell and he was surprised as hell to see what he saw on the other side.

The girls were all staring at Vera's stomach. It looked the same as it always did, but they knew that something dwelled within. Something great, something that was their friend or from their friend. Tears came to Demeter's eyes and Hestia's were already down her face.  Vera looked at the girls sweetly and hugged them tight. Skrina and Shina joined in because seeing that, made them cry too. Tallulah shook her head and smiled. The scene was sweet, and a new addition would be added to the circle of friends.

"Vera," Tallulah interrupted their group hug/crying feast. "Have you told Leslie yet?"

She shook her head. "I'm going to tell him during dinner tonight. For some reason I swear he's been trying to have a baby for some reason."

Tallulah didn't like those words. It sounded as if Leslie was trying to trap Vera into the relationship for some reason. When usually, it's the other way around, with the woman trying to trap the man. Something was really odd about them, and she didn't like it.

Kaine looked in shock as Jordan came out of the cave. Once the cold January air hit her pale skin she shivered. Kaine ran over to her and put his coat on her.  Her hair was a bit longer, and her nails were really long, like she crawled out back from the grave. Her skin was paler than normal; her eyes squinted so small it looked like they were shut. The sun obviously bothered her eyes.

"Jor--Jordan? Is that you?" He said in shock.

Jordan turned away as much as she could from the light. She recognized the voice, but had to make sure it was him. It was, his long black hair flowed in the wind, and those eyes, those green piercing eyes staring at her. If that were the only thing she saw, she would know it was him. She walked over and hugged him tight, holding tight as if she was afraid to ever let go.

"I'm co-co--cold…" She shivered. "I want to get somewhere warm. Please."

He picked her up and carried her up the hill as if he was carrying her as his newly wed bride. She clung to him; his body heat was the only thing keeping her warm. Even though she had his jacket on, the winter chill inside and outside the cavern had already had her caught in its bitter web. He didn't live too far from the lake himself. He lived on a street two from the one she lived on.  He carried her in; she looked around the house. It was a mess! He took her to his room, which was completely immaculate. Even if he did have a few Marilyn Manson posters on the wall.

He laid her down on his bed and covered her up nice in his thick comforter. It was dark green. She giggled. He looked at her and smiled. She laughed; she was going to be okay. Her colour was coming back and she looked like she belonged among the living again. He stared at her eyes though, they changed, and they looked like the sun when it peeked through stormy clouds. Then before his eyes they gradually went back down to the ocean blue he was used to.

"Whoa…" He whispered.

"What?" She said looking at him oddly.

"Your eyes, they changed… they looked almost… yellow… then they went back to blue. Jordan, if you don't mind, what happened to you?"

She looked around his room, he saw she caught eye of a small altar he had up, a pentacle hanging behind a black candle. He rushed over and tried to hide them. It was too late, she had already saw them. He looked over his shoulder imagining her expression to be terrified. But she was smiling.

"Are you a witch?" She asked.

"Umm… I--- well…" Were all he could stubble out.

She laughed. "It's okay." She reached her hand out. She looked shocked at her nails, but then pulled out Janine's necklace.

He was shocked. Though he really shouldn't have been surprised. He should have guessed. He sat on the corner of the bed near her and looked at the beautiful pentacle necklace. Then his eyes grew large.

"This is the necklace of the High Priest and Priestess of the Moon Goddess Coven! Only they were able to wear this, or if it was given as a gift to someone by only them!" He was going to take it off her, but she stopped him.

"It was given to me by the High Priestess of the Moon Goddess Coven. It belonged to my ancestor Janine Nicole Piper, the Oracle of the Moon Goddess gave it to me when I was - um kind of reborn."

He shook his head for a moment, but believed her words, she definitely had a lot of power and he could sense it. He totally forgot her last name was Piper. She told him most of the story, though she left out the part about the Great Priestess' Book of Shadows mission, and the fact it was the Oracle the took the shape of the Lady of the Lake, and was not the actual Oracle, but a family guardian.

"Wow! I bet you didn't know that my family was actually part of the coven of the Moon Goddess, but for some reason, I guess it was how my parents betrayed the coven, Tallulah does not allow me at the rites, and rituals." He scoffed. "I didn't do anything, that's what makes me angry. You know, I knew she wasn't the true High Priestess, I can't believe that I was right. In a way I'm glad. But that bitch needs to be stopped."

"Why? What did your family do if I can ask, and why don't you like Tallulah?" She said a little shocked by his hatred.

"Well, I really don't like her now, knowing for sure she is a liar and not as she seemed. If you want to know, fine. My parents as you know aren't the greatest. They usually spend their time being high or drunk. Well one night when my parents were on one of there drunk escapades… they found out something, some dark secret, that they some how remembered even being drunk, and they won't even tell me what it is." He sighed. "I guess they were going to expose whatever was. Ever since then Tallulah banished my family from ever being in the coven. I'm surprised she didn't try to bind us from doing magick."

"Maybe they found… Um… Tallulah's secret."

"The Lady told you, didn't she… uh… it… whatever…"

"Yes, I can't tell you now what it is, but I promise, if I succeed in my mission I will tell you, and I will let you back into the coven."

He smiled and hugged her tight; he went to kiss her on the cheek and accidentally kissed her on the lips. He backed up quickly and told her he was sorry just about a thousand times. She giggled and sat up stretching. "It's okay Kaine!" She laughed. "You can stop saying you're sorry! I forgive you! I need some clothes and a ride to the Morven house."

He ran over to his closet and got a thick dark green sweater that was too small for him anyhow and got her some of his old jeans from a year ago. They were black, and it was sewn up at the knees where there used to be holes and rips.

"Don't you usually like tears and rips in your clothes?" She looked at him smiling.

"Not during the winter I don't! And besides those pants are old. I'm sorry I gave ya hand-me-downs, but they're the only thing that will fit you of mine."

She shrugged. "Good enough for me!"

He got her a jacket and they got on top of his motorcycle and went off to the Morven house. Kaine just dropped her off there, and told he he'd see her later. He knew he wouldn't be welcome here. She walked up to the door and knocked on it. There was no answer. If no one was home this was a perfect opportunity to get the book. She noticed Janine's necklace was still out. She put it under her shirt. She didn't want Tallulah to see that now. She opened up the door and walked inside. There were voices coming from the back yard. They were home, just outside. She rushed upstairs; someone else was up there. She hid in a corner. It was Shina carrying down a box full of candles and magickal tools. Looks like they were going to do a magickal spell. When Shina went outside she continued into Tallulah's room.

The room smelled musty, like an old person. Musty and dead rose smelling. She went over to the closet and opened it up. She kneeled down and moved the rug. There was the little door. She lifted it up and there was the safe. She closed her eyes and did a small spell to conjure some mist, so Tallulah couldn't see where she was going and Jordan could get her hands on the book. She knew the first touch she did on the safe Tallulah would know someone was after the book.

Moon Goddess hear your young Priestess call
Bring forth silver mist to cover the house of Morven's halls
Cloud the walls, and the ceilings so tall
Moon Goddess hear your young Priestess' Plea
Bring forth silver mist thick from the lake and sea
So thick it combined with Earth, Air, Fire, Water and all my energy!

Mist appeared through the house. The only place were there was no mist was were Jordan's body was. She quickly did 34-23-12 and 9. Tallulah's head peaked up outside. She knew someone was after the book. She instantly ran as fast as her feeble body would carry here, but she couldn't see a thing.
