Protection spells are my favorite spells. I guess I just always feel violated about one issue or another! So feel free to use these spells in perfect love and trust.

Vacuum Cleaner Cleansing Spell

This one is pretty easy. It is useful when you have to cleanse or purify a room of negative energies like when you move into a new home or someone moves out etc.

Sprinkle a little bit of dried rosemary around the room counter clockwise.(or dabbing your vacuum cleaner with rosemary oil)
Then empower your vacuum by chanting:
Enchanted vacuum
My modern day broom
Sucking dirt and harm
From every room
Vacuuming all the rooms in sight
Filling them with love and light

Then finish up the job by sprinkling alittle bit of salt around the room clockwise. Try and visualize all the negative energies being sucked up into the vacuum.

House Blessing Tips

In the spirit of house blessings, and because I'm basically a kitchen witch at heart,here are some selections from Cunningham's The Magical Household (you should really pick this book up!)

House Purifications
Take equal parts of Rosemary, Bay and Majoram.
Heat a gallon of water to almost boiling and remove from heat.
Toss in the herbs.
Cover, let the mixture cool and strain out the leaves.
(you can also mix all these things in your cauldron with water) Using your fingers, sprinkle the infusion throughout the house, CLOCKWISE.
Visualize peaceful energy and say:
"I banish evil and negativity, this is my will, so mote it be!"
Touch the water to all the doors and windows tracing a pentagram (and your own sigil i you choose) on each opening and say something like:
"This opening is blessed and sealed, guarded against all that would do harm."
Pour some down the drains in your home, taking out any extra negativity. Sprinkle some outside your house, all around. Get crazy!

For the doorway:
Suspend over the door a fresh sprig of dill, tied with a blue cord (or red, if you prefer), to prevent those who mean you harm from entering. Cross two needles, and stick into or tie onto a corner of your doormat, to prevent evil from entering.
Grind Dragon's Blood herb into a powder and sprinkle it on door and window sills, to protect your house from harm. Witch Bottles
Powder some more Dragon's Blood herb with a small quantity of sugar and salt, and place in a small corked or screw-lidded bottle. Shake and seal with red wax, then place it where it won't be found (or at least not easily seen). This will ensure harmony and peace within the house. Place three new needles, three new pins, and three new nails in a glass jar. Fill with salt and shake vigorously nine times. Seal with white wax and place in kitchen cupboard where it will not be seen. This protects your food from contamination.
Gather rosemary, along with several needles and pins, into a small glass jar with a tight-fitting lid or cork. When full, pour in red wine and shake. Seal with black or red wax, and place in an inconspicuous place in the apartment. If you own your own house, bury this at the furthestmost corner of your property. The book also adds this:

As you're filling the jar, say these words...
"Pins, needles, rosemary, wine,
In this witch's bottle of mine;
Guard against harm and enmity;
This is my will; so Mote it Be!"

An Anti-Theft Sachet

Mix caraway, rosemary, juniper berries, and elder leaves or mistletoe, and place into white square of cloth. Tie with white yarn and hang prominently. I'd assume either at the place you think thieves are most likely to enter--this being an anti-theft sachet--or at every entrance and doorway. This will require more cloth and more herbs, but most of the above are fairly inexpensive.

Moving In Protection

Bring two things into the house first: a small amount of salt,half to be scattered upon crossing the threshhold, and a small loaf of bread.
Break the bread into as many pieces as you have people moving in, with one extra piece for the gods' portion.
Sprinkle a dash of salt on each piece; share, when you have a moment.
Next, bring in an apple and do the same thing.
Lastly, bring in a sturdy chair and place it either near the apple and bread bits, or facing the door. This ensures that you will never know poverty, for there is bread and salt, hunger, for there is fruit , and instability (for there's your stable chair guarding the door.)
After that, heave and lift until you're moved in!

Cleansing Incense
2 parts Dragon's Blood
1 part Valerian Root
1 part Sulphur
1 part Asafoetida
In conjunction with any banishing ritual this WILL remove ANY psychic or magical impression from your home. Then you can start fresh filling it with the energies you want. It may sound strange but it works!

A Spell of Protection

Sit or stand before any fire. Look into the flames (or flame if you're using a candle)
Visualize the fire bathing you with glowing, protective light.
The fire creats a flaming, shimmering sphere around you.
Now say the following (or something similar):
Craft the spell in the fire;

Craft it well, Weave it higher.
Weave it now of shining flame;
None shall come to hurt or maim.
None shall pass this firey wall;
None shall pass, NO none at ALL!

Repeat until you feel protected! Thank the Goddess/God and close your circle.

Some Quick Protection Tips

Place salt in your shoes to keep people from taking your 'energy'
To make someone leave your home; Place salt in someone elses shoes while thinking of them saying their goodbyes (without them knowing). This one really works... sorry Troy
Hang windchimes and bells near the main enterance to your home. They are known to repel or scare off evil spirts.

Protection Spell

Repeat this simple yet effective ritual every day when in need. Try memorizing this chant. I think I found it in Scott Cunningham’s book. I use it frequently when I feel threatened or in need of protection. Kinda rolls off the tongue :o)

Ruler of the Night,
Protect Me and Mine,

Spell to protect your home during lightning

Light one white candle and one yellow candle and place them in a placeof
importance in your home ( your altar or dining room table). Walk through the
house, room by room, chanting the following words until you have visited every
room of your house:

Mistress of gentle rain,
Master of the storm,
Guard against ill and bane,
Shield me (us) from harm.
And while fire flies through the air
And raindrops fiercly blast,
Keep my loved ones in your care

'Til the storm has passed.
Wind, wind guard my kin.
Flame, flame do not maim.
Rain, Rain quickly wane.
Earth, Earth, guard my worth.

The house is now protected until the storm passes. If you’re a tornado freak like myself….this chant will work nicely. Chant from basement or lowest level of the house ..lol.

Mix salt and water from your altar together. Starting at the Northern point
next to your bed, sprinkle the mixture around the bed while saying:

Water and Earth
where you are
Cast no spell
Or adverse purpose
Haste if not
In complete accord with me
As my word
So mote it be!

Visualize a protective sphere of energy from as you say this
