The US Congress has effectively just declared war on Iraq. Unless you trust this president to be very patient and always choose the more peaceful option. Our first story should remove any ideas you had about that.

You simply must read this! David Armstrong's article in the October 2002 Harper's Magazine, "Dick Cheney's Song of America", is an outstanding one. Harper's don't provide the text of their stories on the webside, so I have posted some excerpts from the article. For the full (5000 words!) story, pick up a copy of the magazine.
Also, the The US Space Command vision 2020 is no longer found on .mil sites. Perhaps it was embarassing, with its talk of the haves ruling the have nots, earth strike weapons, and so on. So I've hosted a standalone copy I downloaded last year.

Reuters spinning the news: another example.
A Reuters story issued just after the house voted for war opens "The U.S. House of Representatives voted overwhelmingly to back a possible war with Iraq" but does not report the number of votes. In fact, over 30% of the House voted against the resolution. Overwhelming? Hardly. And the Sprat amendment, which would have modified the resolution to require UN approval prior to military action, had almost 40% support.
