Paul Michael Stafford
Paul Michael Stafford's Biography
Lonely Life
When I was a twinkle in an eye,
My heart was already learning to cry,
And by the time the sun first touched my skin,
I had already acquired original sin,
All of this was beyond my control,
A simple part of the destiny of my soul,
But by the time I had started school,
I had learned how to bend a rule,
The pattern of my life was taking shape,
As from the system I tried to escape,
I did what I had to, to make the grade,
Spent the summer of my life in the shade,
Broke a few hearts in the autumn of my life,
Had my heart broken and never found a wife,
My heart had run out of tears to cry,
By the time winter years started passing me by,
I started life as an only child,
And would die without my solitude defiled,
Lying short of breath on my single bed,
Memories of my life drifting through my head,
It is hard to say when I finally gave in,
And freed my body from the soul within.
