Calliope's Biography

The Broken Chain

I used to walk the countryside,

my worries, away would slide,

the cool, crisp clean air,

created such a peaceful atmosphere,

I would watch the animals living,

not knowing I would want forgiving,

the water of life they needed,

was polluted by man, who had succeeded

without a care or thought for the wildlife,

just an ever increasing better life.

I still walk in the "countryside",

the crops are all around me,

my worries no longer slide,

for the animals are no longer there for me to see,

the acid rain polluted the soil and the water,

killing the plants and breaking the chain,

as mankind aided the slow slaughter.

I feel sorrow for their pain,

such sorrow, but I do not cry,

they did not have to die,

and I have no tears left to be cried,

because, all the animals have died.
