Hyporheical samples collected in Cuba by the 2. Cubo-Romanian Biological-Expedition in 1973 were examined. Three new species belonging to the harpacticoid genus Nitocrella Chappuis have been discovered and are described in this paper as Nitocrella caraioni n.sp., N. motasi n.sp. and N. cubanorum n.sp.
The revision of the genus Nitocrella Chappuis, made by Lang (1965) is extended. Two new genera are established: Stygonitocrella n.gen. and Nitocrellopsis n. gen. The key for genera from the family Ameiridae Monard, Lang, given by Lang is expanded and modified to include all genera known up to the present day. For better understanding of the now restricted genus Nitocrella Chappuis (s. restr.) the species of this genus are divided into three species groups: vasconica group, chappuisi group and hirta group. Finally the author gives keys for determination of species from all genera and species groups derived from the genus Nitocrella Chappuis (s. lat.).
