With fellowship taking up so much of our life it seemed that we had no time or energy left for family. I worried about the impact of the lack of family stability on our children. For us, the solution came in the form of "family fun night". I began organizing one day each week where my husband was not "on-call" or "post-call". We voted as a family that we would make our own pizzas. (See our pizza recipe). After dinner there is a family craft planned, followed by a disney movie and popcorn. With a tight budget in mind, it is still easy to come up with fun crafts. Our house in now decorated by hand-painted candle holders, plaques and dishes. We have decorated family t-shirts for holidays and pick days to all wear our shirts. This fun idea has blossomed in our home, and nothing could replace the fun memories or family heirlooms we are creating. |
