CyberDemon - the creatures Dark Kat created to counteract
his mistake with the first CyberBeing, Sypher. The mistake being to give
Sypher freewill... so he thought. CyberDemons have only a limited
freewill and individual thought capacity. They have no sentience...
and no soul.
CyberKat - what a CyberDemon becomes when it gains sentience/a
soul and freewill.
All CyberKats and/or CyberDemons were created by Dark Kat
as programs within his master computer - artificially intelligent programs.
Part of Dark Kat's plan to create more intelligent help, this programming
was infused with DNA sequencing and then routed through a conversion that
transferred each from so much data and energy to a solid form.
All retain the ability to change from matter to energy at will, but when
solid matter they are full kats. There is nothing to outwardly distinguish
them from other kats until they are angered, when their eyes tend to glow
an electric blue. This tendency can, however, be suppressed with
effort. A CyberKat's only other distinguishing feature is that, having all been a generic black when first created, most like to chose rather unique fur and eye colors for themselves when they change from being CyberDemons. In their energy form, they have great freedom over their own DNA and can alter their body considerably. However, they are not shape-shifters and their alterations are mainly limited to coloration and weight. Excess weight can be converted to energy and used as a power source, so the chances of an overweight CyberKat or Demon would be highly unlikely.
Even in kat form, a CyberKat/Demon's brain still functions like a computer, giving each the ability to think of several things at once. Ie: to "multi-task." For example, they can perform any manual task and carry on a conversation at the same time, paying full attention to both activities. And, this ability extends to far more than just two things at once. Further, a CyberKat/Demon's brain can hold far more information than that of a normal kat. They can "download" whole languages or other information packets, learning instantly (think "The Matrix").
They do not require food. They can eat if they want or simply rely on draining raw energy from the city's power supply, the most readily available form, though absorbing the power from energy weapons and other sources is quite possible. The only energy sources CyberKat/Demons can't absorb are magical energy, which won't kill them, but it's an unpleasant experience that provides no power boost, and life energy. One might could drain the limited electrical energy from someone's body, but that's it.
In either form, the CyberBeings usually store some excess energy within their bodies for protection - ie: they can "zap" someone. They can also pull some of the mass from their body and convert it to energy for protection in a pinch. When they do this, they take an even amount of mass from their entire body, causing them to shrink in proportion to the amount used. Were a CyberBeing not careful, they could literally use themself up and be destroyed.
CyberKat/Demons can control any electronic device or computer they have established a link to - usually via radio or satellite uplink. Although, their bodies are fully organic, they have some extra, specially-created organic parts that function in this capacity. Thus, a CyberKat/Demon can be permanently linked to a computer system of their choice, using its Internet connections for information on the fly and its hard drive space as additional storage for their own minds.
In their organic/kat form, CyberKats/Demons are their most vulnerable. They have heightened immune systems and are fairly resistant to disease. However, they can sustain any injury a normal kat can. While they can instantly assume their energy form, making a physical wound of no consequence (energy can't bleed to death and doesn't need to breath) and can heal the wound there, a direct blow to the head or the heart can kill them instantly like anyone else.
In their energy form, termed "acoherent," the CyberBeings are at their most powerful. They can travel through any conductor, merge with any organic being and control it (hence the original term "CyberDemon"), and are nearly indestructible. Water can scatter their molecules... in some cases for good. Though they've shown a talent for reforming their scattered selves, it's rarely a fast process. A powerful enough ElectroMagnetic Pulse (EMP) can destroy a CyberKat/Demon, permanently shattering their minds and causing their acoherent body to fly apart without the kat's thought holding it together. When organic, EMPs seem to temporarily disorient the CyberBeings.
Scary as it might sound, the CyberBeings' power to merge with and control kats is rather limited. At least the control angle of it. They can merge with anyone and essentially copy all the knowledge in their heads easily... in most cases. But, control is another matter. It is nearly impossible for CyberDemons. They can temporarily suppress a kat's will, but having none of their own, they are unable to destroy it. A developed CyberDemon could debatedly manipulate a kat's mind to achieve their goals, but it's yet to be done. For a CyberKat, it's a continuous battle of wills that few, for all their mental capacities, would continue longer than was necessary to complete whatever purpose lead them to need a kat's body in the first place.
Currently, several CyberKats are members of the MBI, and more are always welcomed. A large group of other CyberKats under the leadership of Frequency are... "freelance" CyberKats. They are neither good nor evil in particular. Fearing Dark Kat's growing displeasure with his creations after he failed to reformat Sypher and lost his second head CyberKat Shrapnel to the side of good, they left his service. Any parts among this group are open. As to Dark Kat's CyberKats/Demons all parts are open except for their leader, who is Mainframe.
