RULES
The MBI/SK RPG FAQ's

Q: What type of RPG is this? What am I expected to encounter should I join?

A: The Megakat Bureau of Investigation RPG involves a group of legal vigilantes settled in their own headquarters down in Megakat City. This doesn't mean, however, that the SWAT Kats or any other SWAT Kats characters are out of the picture.
This is a "half freeform" RPG. Almost anything goes. Keep in mind that we're a group of sugar-crazed SWAT Kats fans. We will joke around before the action gets started. We will keep the realism out of the picture as much as we can. If you are looking for a more "realistic" RPG that involves a roll of dice, basic conversation, graphic blood and gore, soap opera romance and anything else that you think is "cool" from what you've seen on T.V., then you've come to the wrong place. While we do use weapons, the RPG also relies heavily on Sci/Fi action, which may include anything high tech. And, even if we don't want to use weapons, we will turn to slap stick comedy. For example, if a player runs out of bullets, then he'll smack the villain with the closest thing he finds, be it a fish to a chair.
And, yes, we do try to remain loyal to the SWAT Kats universe (why in the world would we call this a SWAT Kats RPG  if we didn't?). So, if you're trying to mix in a universe that so happens to be cooler in your own eyes, then you're not going to feel comfortable with a group of SWAT Kats fans that want to keep the RPG like the show was, even if we do alter things a tad.

Q:
What is the rating of this RPG?

A:
THE PRIMARY RULE!!! This RPG is to be kept at a PG rating. Nothing higher than that. This means: no cursing, no sexual innuendos,  nothing that may be considered graphic, or even implied. Let's keep this place as clean as possible. It is, after all, based on a children's cartoon.

Q:
What is powergaming?

A: THIS IS NOT ALLOWED!!! Powergaming usually involves where you believe your character(s) are better than anybody else's. This means they can rule the world without any trouble and cannot be killed even with the most powerful weapon on the planet. To put it another way, this guy can't take a hit, and/or forcing wounds on others and his player expects others to follow along. This is unfair on other people because they're too busy trying to survive and stop this guy when they could be doing something else in a side plot. It also means that the player takes the center stage as well as the spotlight and expects the others to bow down before him.
Also, it means taking over the plot as a whole. As in, the player wants the plot to come out the way s/he wants it to, and this means side chatting along with other members out of the chat room and demanding they do exactly what s/he wants, whether or not it involves his/her character getting hurt. Hey. Not all the players are picturing the same scene in their heads even if they wanted to.

Q:
Can I be Razor or T-Bone's girlfriend?

A:
I'm sorry, no. Considering the number of fan girls both SWAT Kats may have, the Boys are to be kept single. In other words, no marriage, no going beyond the kissing stage, and as mentioned above, no graphic scenes. Sincerely, I'd like to keep the romance at the lowest level possible. It doesn't mean that I don't allow dating among characters and innocent flirting. I draw the line upon the point where both characters have come to terms of getting married and have enough kids to overpopulate Megakat City.

Q:
But, in my RPG/Fanfiction, I married Jake Clawson and we had a son...

A:
That's *your* RPG/Fanfiction. Welcome to a whole new dimension.

Q:
Can I have a same gender relationship with someone that is or is*not* a SWAT Kats or an MBI character?

A: No, Niet, Para Nada, Zip, Cero, Non.
Enough said in every language I can manage. Someone else tried it, it didn't work for them. This is where I point at the primary rule on this list.

Q:
Can I be the official player of ________?

A:
You can be the official player of the character *you* create. This can be a fanfic character, any past RPG character, etc.
Both SWAT Kats, however, and any other favorite SWAT Kats character, are wild carded. This reduces the possibility of a brawl over who wants to role-play T-Bone or Razor and say, maybe, Felina or Callie. Should a minor dispute break-out among members (let's hope it doesn't) over who role-plays who, a drawing will be held and whoever wins that drawing will have that part for the night. Hopefully, every member will have the opportunity of role-playing their favorite character for one night. Furthermore, each member has a pick of *one* star of the show. Wouldn't be fair if someone had both stars or more, now would it?

Q:
Can my character have multiple weapons?

A:
Okay, if it means to have a dagger and a handgun, and possibly a revolver on the side, fine. But, if your character looks like they performed a stick-up at the NRA, 'yer gonna hafta cut down, sonny.'

Q:
Are we allowed to kill villains? What about NPC's (non-post characters)?

A:
Preferably, no. Villains are what create a plot in itself. You can harm them, drive them insane, send them to the Megakat Asylum. Shoot them 'til they're long gone, no cigar. And, if you were to toss in an NPC, why in the world would you want to kill them within five minutes after tossing them in?

Q:
What if I have a character that is not a kat? Is that allowed?

A:
I'll accept anything that's closely related to a feline. This includes tigers, lynx, servals, etc. Wolves and other furries are accepted, but I prefer feline, considering this *is* a city inhabited by kats. If there were to be a neighboring city that belonged to any other species, then make sure that it's included in your character's BIO.

Q:
What if I'm not a SWAT Kats fan, yet I still want to role-play my character? Can I still join?

A:
Okay. If you're aware of what's going on in Megakat City, and know what the show SWAT Kats consists of, then you're fine. If you want to look more info, there are dozens of SWAT Kats fan-sites. However, if I find that your character is meant to be in another RPG, then I'm afraid I'll have to point you in that general direction. I don't want this to be a crossover of two different universes.

Q:
But, isn't MBI and SWAT Kats a crossover?

A: Kind of, though I'd rather dub this as a 'spin-off' of the show. The MBI *is* settled in Megakat City, hence its name.  Therefore, it's not entirely in a parallel universe. When I mean two different universes, I mean, say, you bring in a character that has a Pokemon. Now, mind you, I don't have anything against Pokemon nor the show
itself, or any other popular anime shows. In fact, I enjoy some of them. However, I'm afraid this RPG just isn't the place for them. Check the Internet. There are tons of Anime RPGs out there.

Q:
I'm having trouble picking out my character.

A: I can help, but I can only offer what I have. If none of the ideas I toss out appeal to you, I'm sorry. Ask any of the other players for help as well. I'm sure they'll have ideas they'll love to share.

Q: I want my character to be an M.B.I. agent. Do I have to talk to you first about it?

A: Not really. I guess it all depends on what your character's position may be. This is in terms of rank. I can't accept anybody higher in rank than a lieutenant at the M.B.I.  And, no, I can't accept a double Captain deal either. No, I'm not being a control freak. But, can you blame me? I created the M.B.I., and I can't see anybody else holding the scepter and ruling over something that's technically mine. Your character can be a special agent, however. This means s/he doesn't exactly have a rank, but is still part of the organization.

Q: How many agents are there and can I role-play any of them?

A: Every player has their own agents. In fact, there are less than fifteen agents in the actual MBI at the moment, and they each have their own player. For right now, there aren't any NPC MBI agents. After all, the organization isn't as big as the Enforcers.

Q: I want my character to be an Enforcer. Do I have to talk to you first about it?

A: Nope. The Enforcers were part of the show. I don't have a say over who wants to be an Enforcer.

Q:
So if you have no say over who wants to be an Enforcer because they were part of the show, that means you have no say over who wants to be a SWAT Kat, right?

A: Cool your engines, buddy. True, I don't have a say over whether or not T-Bone and Razor would like to add new members to their team. However, I do have say over the demand of keeping the originality of the show. See, the problem with becoming a SWAT Kat is the sheer fact over who runs the show. The Enforcers and the Megs don't have that problem because they each have a leader. T-Bone and Razor are their own formed team. Neither of them orders the other around. So, if twenty other people applied to become a SWAT Kat, then what? Who runs the show?
Okay, let's pick either T-Bone or Razor as a leader. Where do you go from there? Build fifty other Turbokats? Ninety Cyclotrons?  And, what about room? Where are you going to find another salvage yard to hide all those
brand new vehicles?

Q:
Gimme a break! My character became a SWAT Kat in my fanfiction! You can't change that!

A: No, I can't change what you wrote in your fanfiction. But, how many of the players in this RPG read your fanfiction?  How many of them know that your character inherited a large estate in Anakata Island from your rich late Aunt Hilda and a military jet from your retired Enforcer father?
Besides, it's really hard for those wildcarding to keep up with pasts like "my character knew whoever in high school." By the same token, some wildcarder being Razor probably doesn't want to have to play along with a new player wanting to say her char dated him in high school or they were best friends before he met Chance or something. And, if one wildcarder thinks that past is cool, the next may not. Try to consider the other players' points of view if you want them to consider yours.

Q: Well, I've submitted my BIO, but it seems that no one likes my character, or doesn't like the way I portray him/her. You wanted me to be original. This is as original as I got! What am I doing wrong? Why should I change it to everybody's benefit?

A: The people who see your BIO are the people you'll be role-playing with should your character be accepted. Ask yourself this question: I've read the rules. What do they want me to see? Will this be satisfactory? Will they be comfortable with my character?
Quite frankly, we want someone who can be easy to talk to, to joke around with, to have dinner without feeling uncomfortable. Think about it. How would you feel if you were part of the RPG and was suddenly encountered by someone who only talks about, say, how cool his/her family is, or even how great his/her knowledge of skateboarding without shutting up. Puts you right to sleep, doesn't it? Try to put yourself in our shoes before pointing fingers at us for judging what we feel your character seems to act like.

Q: What about plots?

A: Plots, plots, plots. Sincerely, I love to discuss plots with team members. This builds in more action and we get to decide who will be the villain for the night. If a member has any idea for any future plot and would like feedback, then s/he should send it to the other members for discussion.

Q:
So when does this RPG start?

A:
The RPG starts at 10:00 p.m. U.S. EST. on Fridays and Saturdays. There is no time limit...this is pretty much an "RPG til' ya drop" kind of thing... though I may drop at 2:00 a.m. my latest...I have school. RPG may start as soon as two or more people are present. For those players living in Europe and any other area other than the U.S., I'd look at around late afternoon/evening in those cases... maybe even early morning. If you have troubles in that area, I'll see what we can do to change it.
