Cyber Angel
Pain shot through Cybersix as she strained to pull herself into a sitting position to face her enemy. Her body protested from several broken ribs, a broken left arm, and a dislocated right hip. It was getting hard to breathe: a rib must have punctured a lung.
It had finally happened. Jose had succeeded in creating a monster that beat both her and Data 7. Despite it's huge size, puny head, and muscle-bound appearance, it had displayed amazing dexterity and speed
that had caught them by surprise. He had grabbed her in mid-leap by the right leg, and had slung her side into a too-sturdy lamp post with frightening strength, inflicting all her injuries in a single blow.
She glanced across the street, where the monster had flung Data-7's broken body. Her brother had fought back, leaping into the monster's face, biting and clawing, in an attempt to buy her time to escape.
She had heard his jungle scream and the sickening crack of his spine when the monster had dropped her and gave him a deadly bear hug instead.
The fighting stopped as quickly as it started.
Jose walked up, blowing away the smoke coming out of the gun which had just sent a bullet into Data 7's brain, "Nice appetizer!" he chuckled, "Now for the main course!"
"Why?" she asked, coughing up blood, "Why? Von Richter's dead. You don't have to follow his orders to kill us anymore!"
"Hah! YOU'D just get in the way of my plans to take over Meridiana!” he laughed. "Good bye Cyber woman!" he said, lifting the gun... Cybersix shut her eyes tight and braced herself.
There was a loud bang and a flash of light, and everything was still. Cybersix opened her eyes, slowly. Jose and his goons, even Data7 were all gone, and there in front of her was a young girl, long black hair spread across her back, her dress was white, ripped and stained with blood. The waist was tied with a black rope. Blood dripped to the
ground at her feet, and the girl collapsed onto her knees, then fell foward. She caught herself with her hands though, so that she was barely able to life her body weight on hands and knees. She looked up at Cybersix, and smiled.
Cybersix shook herself out of her shock and ran to the girl. Dark grey eyes stared up at her, they were imensly sad, but a weak smile was still on the girls lips. "Are you okay?" Cybersix asked, immidiantly pulling the girl into her arms, helping to support her.
"Yes. I will be fine, Cybersix." the girl smiled, her voice was soft and calm. her eyes were so large and loving... Cybersix felt herself crying.
"Who are you?" she asked through her tears. A tear landed on the girls cheek and she smiled softly at Cybersix.
"Shh, do not cry. We are always with you, I am always here." the girl smiled again, and stood up, sagging greatly but relying on an inner strength to stand.
"No, don't stand...your hurt..." Cybersix protested but the girl shook her head. Suddenly wings sprouted from the girls back. Magnificent white, and beautiful. She took Cybersix's hands in hers.
"Come Cybersix. Come home."
"Wait! Who are you?" Cybersix asked again. The girl nodded and began to speak, the soft, soothing note of her voice never changing.
"A Gaurdian. I've been here for you always Cybersix. I've been here for all of you. Cyber 29 and the others are waiting. Please come home."
"An Angel? Cyber Angel?" Cybersix said slowly. The girl smiled and nodded. And Cybersix saw the tears in her eyes. they were red and she cried tears of blood.
Cybersix let the girl take her hands, and they began to float upwards. The room faded away and everything became bright. It didn't harm her eyes though, and soon the brightness subsided. Cyersix looked around in wonder. Thousands of children surrounded her. The Cybers... Cybersix saw a man walking towards her and she was taken in a hug.
"Cyber 29!" she gasped, and the giggling happy voices of the Cybers came into beautiful harmony as they all laughed and cried. Cybersix kneeled down and let the thousands of children run up and hug her as she hugged them back.
"I'm sorry you never got a chance to grow up..." she told them all through tears.
There was a small gasp, barely audible beneath the waves of laughter but Cybersix heard it. Turning quickly she saw the girl, laying on the ground, crying tears of blood. Cybersix ran over.
"ˇPoco uno!" she gasped, running over to the little Angel. She pulled the girl gently to her arms. "No..."
"It's...complete. I have brought you all together...all...5000..." the girl smiled, looking so peaceful and happy. She seemed sad too, but her joy overlapped that. "I'm...so tired...Goodbye...everyone..." the girl's eyes drifted shut, and
she died with a soft smile on her face. A sudden gust of wing blew by, and the girl was suddenly blown from Cybersix's arms in a furry of feathers. each white feather was tipped with red though, as they blew away in the wind. Cybersix stared after them in silence, as did the other Cybers, some of which who began to cry. Finally, Cybersix smiled.
"Adiós ángel pequeño, gracias para amarnos." she rubbed the tears from her eyes and turned to face her siblings. They were together again....at last.
