Preferably known as: "Adrian"
Background: Adrian didn't get much out of service as an Eto Ranger. There are so many factors which didn't go his way: he didn't get any leadership benefits--even though he was #2 he wasn't as active as say, #1 and #3. In addition, he wasn't able to participate in missions as much as he wanted--and as a result, Buku didn't get paid much either. Plus, he didn't receive any benefits for the risks the job entails, such as death or injury insurance. The final blow was that the media didn't give him much attention during the press conference held at Aura Palace at the end of the series. And on top of that, in the few missions he participated in, he wasn't able to perform much, he didn't get the spotlight, and worse yet, the Novel World usually messed up with his gender. Only a heartless person could emerge from these events without any qualms. So doubts formed in Adrian's mind: What am I? Am I good for anything besides supporting cast? Am I that... useless? Why is everyone setting me aside? Will I ever be recognized? Am I a male? And so Adrian returned to his wooden house at the edge of the forest, full of doubt, wondering what to do with his life. Much to his surprise, when he got home, he came upon his elder sister Amelia, who was angry at him for not keeping in touch and not visiting once in a while--leaving her to do all the household chores on top of her day jobs. Most of the time after his arrival Adrian spent trying to regain his sister's trust. And in that he didn't know he was already building his own self-confidence again from the ashes of the past. Later he would attempt to gain public recognition, only to fail and be reminded that what is more important than what others think of him is what he thinks of himself. Personality: By the end of the series, Adrian has lost most of his self-confidence and there should be an OAV somewhere where he attempts to get it back. Adrian is particularly looking for his social identity, his gendery identity, and his identity in relation with his sister. His mind and heart have raised so many questions that he has receded into loneliness and quietness, attempting to answer all those questions by himself. Later he realizes that he cannot solve those problems alone--so he turns to his sister for help. |
