Preferably known as: Yabo Filipino dubbed name: Yabo Original japanese series name: Pakaracchi (pa-ka-ra-t-chi) Race: Horse Gender: Male Job specification: Member of ER Address: Blacksmith's, North Murgen (fanfic) Abilities Summary: Martial arts, agility, speed, boomerang. Weapon of choice: Powerful legs, boomerangs. Fighting style: Martial arts--horseshoes cause the most hurt Personality analysis Summary: Started out with arrogance similar to Powell's, although as the series goes on, he makes sacrifices for the team, and he does try his best cheer others up. Has a great sense of humor, lives for the present. Carpe diem. Motto: "You'll grow old quickly if you are full of worry!" Inventory: Boomerang Relationships Fond of: Cecily Likes: anyone who is not his enemy Miscellaneous description Pakaracchi is a Spirit of Horses just past adolescence. Has a good build; most of his muscles are in his powerful running legs. Often wears headbands around his forehead to keep his hair looking like a black Italian-style cream puff. His favorite outfit includes his blue vest, and orange shirt and pants. Highlights (Episode: On the way to the underworld - about #36) Yabo tries to cheer up his teammates by making fun of himself using chopsticks. Cecily seems to be very receptive of this gesture... Developments After the Series What else can he wish for? He has a job, he helps a lot of Spirits, he is a member of the Eto Rangers. However, Cecily suddenly pays him a visit... on a limousine? Name Analysis (Filipino dubbed) "Yabo" may be a Filipino corruption of a Chinese (actually Fookien) expression meaning, "Still nothing" (Japanese) "Paka" is related to the sound of a horse's hooves as they strike the ground. And my guess is that "racchi" is related to the horse's neigh. Fun stuff Characters reminded of: Sie Kensou, King of Fighters series; Captain Tylor, The Irresponsible Captain Tylor My rating: 6/10. Great character, but not one you'll never forget. Bloopers: Yabo was mistakenly called 'Pakaracchi' (the dubbed name of the dragon) in three episodes. If that isn't embarrassing enough for the dubbers, once those three episodes were over, they had Yabo snicker and say, "Hehe, bigla na lang ako napagkakamalan na si Pakaracchi!" (Translation: It's so bad they start mistaking me for Pakaracchi!) This one-liner was so funny I could not stop laughing. I believe the dubbing company tried to save face for their mistakes without re-dubbing the erroneous episodes. =) |
