Weapon of choice: Claws, Yalong's Bone Staff, Magic Monkey-type brown stretch staff (fanfic) Fighting style: Annoying Special moves: Nothing much Personality analysis Summary: Mischievous trickery by the master of making fun, Menkyu. He likes to use his voice-changing device to fool his friends, and his enemies as well. In addition, he has many tricks up his sleeve. Quote: "Lahat pumunta na kayo sa kusina; KAKAIN NA!" (All of you proceed to the kitchen; time to eat!) -- second episode, using voice changer to fool the robots Motto: "It's so much fun--it's funny, I tell you. Believe me!" Inventory: Voice changer, brown stretch staff (fanfic) Relationships Likes: Yalong Annoyed with: anyone who dares play tricks against him, including Powell Memo: Yalong and Menkyu have always been like brothers. They do quarrel and play tricks on each other so often that you'd think they believe that the other could never be offended. Miscellaneous description Menkyu is a young-looking Spirit of Monkeys who just likes to look good... sometimes by making others look bad. His fiery brown hair is constantly well-groomed, and his clothes neat and well-pressed. Highlights (Episode #38) Upon Yalong's death, after the dog cries tears of blood, Menkyu cries and takes Yalong's bone staff and fights Nyanmar. This is another marvelous scene which cannot be expressed in words. Developments After the Series Bored. Bored. Bored. He goes out in search for adventure, only for someone to come to him. (see "Menkyu and Valerie" in the Mirean Archives, Literary page) Name Analysis (Filipino dubbed) I don't know what "Menkyu" means, but I think it's a corruption of "Monku". But I gotta admit, "Menkyu" sounds way past cool! (Japanese) Besides "saru", a monkey is called "monki" in Japanese. Monku may be a corruption of that word. But why "monk"? Menkyu doesn't act like a monk at all... Beyond that, "monku" means grumbling. Fun stuff Characters reminded of: Kaoru Kagedoshi (the kid) from Flame of Recca, Sten from Breath of Fire 2 My rating: 9/10 - Unforgettable character. |
