Taranee
Confusion
Taranee seems to be a very confused character. She can't readily and quickly decide what to do in a given situation. A handful decisions she makes are usually given a lot of contemplation, or some compulsion from other people. She seems to easily give in to peer pressure (*cough*Irma*cough*), although of the five main characters she seems to have the schedule most free to be able to give in. Taranee the Rubber Band
On several occasions Taranee gets to release her anger. In the first of these occasions, Taranee lost her temper after the Elyon's endless taunting (#4). In the second, she dreamt that she was burning down Elyon's mansion (#9). The fact remains, that Taranee doesn't get angry often; her timid nature will often let her remain simply quiet, disappointed, upset, or snobbish. When Taranee is moved to anger, however, it is wise to stay clear of her. But even when she's angry, it appears that she still (with reservations) continues to listen to her friends' advice. Will, in particular, seems to easily convince Taranee to calm down (#4). (Of course, no one goes to Cornelia to get a pat in the back, so Corny wasn't able to stop Taranee from burning down the mansion! *#9*) Family
Taranee's family appears to be the most liberal among the families of the main cast. Not only don't her parents appear in most episodes, but they also do not seem to exert too much control over Taranee. In fact, they are very supportive of her. (And the parents let Peter go surfing too--isn't that dangerous? That says a lot!) Taranee does seem to be the most mature among the WITCHes, perhaps as a result of this freedom. (Megan's note: No, Taranee does not look so OLD because of her glasses; it's more because of what she wears!!) Peter (her brother) is in fact very inclined to do Taranee favors when she calls on him for help (at Cornelia's "expense", though). Boyfriend
What Taranee probably needs in a boyfriend is someone who is able to guide her and defend her, as well as protect her from herself. Poor, confused Taranee needs a strong-willed guy to cling on, someone who will understand her, explain a few things here and there, and most importantly stop her from losing her temper. Nigel appears to have a weak personality, having fallen in with a bad crowd. He's shown he's having difficulty shaking off Uriah and company, or fighting for what he believes in. He's however gained some points by being serious with Taranee, though. He's gone out of his way to defend her, prevent Uriah from thinking of turning on her (#5), and even show his affection with a gift. However, Taranee has shown that she will not stand for a dishonorable guy, shown by her pouting when Nigel was accused of theft (#11). You could call Taranee a perfectionist when it comes to a guy's character... but don't blame her... it's just comes naturally from a family with a judge and a lawyer-psychologist! Name Taranee is another of the WITCH cast "accused" of being based off a character from Buffy, the Vampire Slayer (Tara). However, (correcting what I earlier said about her name) Taranee seems to be a variant of the basic descriptive name Tawny ("golden-brown"). Tawny -- Tahnee -- Taranee It makes sense now, doesn't it? Characters from outside of WITCH Taranee can probably relate to: Evil Ryu, Violent Ken (Street Fighter series) - What is it like, to thirst for power, to lose control, to get really angry? These two, being alternate "evil" versions of normally good guys, show what can happen. Taranee in particular, when she's confused, in particular, is the most prone to losing control of herself and her powers. Worse, she is probably able to destroy everything, thanks to her mastery of fire... |
