John's Phone Conversation (or very close to it) John: Hi, one question.... why were you too cheap to buy a ticket to my show? The lady said she was working or something. John: So, what do you do? She said something John: Oh, so you have a lot of singles around your house then, huh? The audience started laughing, and John held the phone out so everybody could yell "hi." Then, I believe he gave the phone back. |

August 21, 2002 My car broke down in Madison Heights on the day of the concert, so Paul, Ines, and I took Paul's car. Talk about carsick! (Haha, sorry Paco!) After an over-priced dinner in Bloomfield Hills, we finally arrived at DTE. We parked and went to the front gates. Of course, the 3 of us entered all the radio contests for signed stuff, front row, and backstage passes, but to no avail, so we went to our seats. Our seats were pretty far back (Row 00), but still, it was better than the lawn! Plus, I got an aisle seat, which is always good! And the view wasn't too terribly bad. Vanessa Carlton was the opening act. She did a pretty good job; I liked some of her songs. Third Eye Blind, of course, was next. They were all right. I was surprised I knew as many songs as I did... even though I have their CD. Stephen Jenkins said that they're coming out with a new CD soon or something... wasn't really paying attention -go figure! Finally, the GOO GOO DOLLS took the stage! I believe they opened with Long Way Down. Played a total of 22 songs, and in between, of course, the band would interact with the crowd. At one point during the show, John took some lady's cell phone, and began to look through her phone book. It was pretty funny... he was like, "who's Bull? I uh... don't think I wanna mess with him!" Then he called her best friend and made fun of her... but in a friendly way. So, I would have to say the night was a success! Yeah, I didn't meet the band, and my seat was way far back, but it was still awesome! I was SO tired when I got home, just from dancing in the aisle the whole night... it was GREAT! |
