Ice
Cream Shoppe |

This was created based on the tutorial from creamshoppelesson. I had to alter a few things depending on what I have to work with. I first got two 8-inch (instead of 10 inch, I thought they were too big) embroidery hoops at AC Moore. I painted them both silver on the outside and only on the inside for the top hoop. Then I began making the floor. I filled it with thick cardboard (instead of foam core) and on the top piece made the floor. |

I used an egg carton to make small "rocks"
and painted them white. |

I got a donut box from the grocery store, and cut it up for the counters in the shop. |

The ice cream containers were made from a manila folder. The ice cream was made from Spackling Paste, painted in my choice of "favors" once dried. The ice cream scoopers were toothpicks painted silver, and stuck deep into the "ice cream" so only the top shows. For the mint chocolate chip ice cream, I added small pieces of chocolate sprinkles. To the left, I added "mustard seeds," and painted the ice cream an off-white color. The purple ice cream (black cherry) also had mustard seeds added, painted black first. Once the "ice cream" dried, I covered it with Mod Podge sealer. |

The ice cream cones were made from chopsticks, sharped with a pencil sharper and cut to size. Then stained with a dark stain. The cone holder was made using a piece from the donut box (thick cardboard). Two have ice cream added top (chocolate is hidden behind the vanilla). The ice cream sundae was made from a clear pushpin, cutting off the bottom. I used Spackling Paste to make the ice cream, then drizzled some "hot fudge" acrylic paint on top. A little more Spackling Paste added for the whipped cream and added a "cherry" (red mustard seed) to top it off. The straws were made from those plastic strings that attach tags to garments. The holder was actually made from an old paint brush. I was about to toss it, when I noticed it (thinking it could be a straw holder or part of a milkshake), so took it off. The "cup" to the left is also made from that paint brush. The bowls were bought at AC Moore, part of a set I've had lying around. Syrups made from acrylic paints mixed with a little clear Gallery Glass. Two spoons were added to them. The toppings: sprinkles from real sprinkles, coated with sealer. The cherries were mustard seeds pained red. The chocolate chips were chopped pieces of brown fimo. And the nuts were made from pepper seeds, cooked dry. The bananas were some beads, may try to make my own but they work for now. Cupboards were added to the counters, non-working. More donut box cut to size, with earring backs added for handles. |

Finally added the "glass covers" [originally used for picture frames] and counter for the sundae and spoon/napkin to sit on. It was SUCH a hassle getting those together! Luckily you cannot see the bottom part of them, it was very difficult to cut. |

The sign up top is basic, I may spice it a little but I kind of like it simple. I also need a sign for the inside, with the "specials" and prices. Ameateur ice cream shoppe? Maybe, but first try and I adore it! Updated: I changed the sign, I think it's cuter now. I also shorten the "ice cream container." Now there's less empty space. Plus, I finally glued the folders into the embroidery hoops and put in a ceiling for the shop. |

I finally made the ice cream on the top! Such a pain. I got the ice cream scoop from the dollar store (50 cents!), it was originally white but I spray painted it - I definitely prefer it gray! The "ice cream" was, once again, used making Spackling Paste (which I'm out of now). Once dried, I painted it "chocolate" brown, did several touch-ups. Then applied Mod-Podge Matte over it for a more glossy/wet look. |

The final product --- thus far! |
Needed to finish the project: (1) an ice cream sign for prices/specials. |
I always like to know what projects cost me so I broke it down. By "nothing" I mean that the items cost so little per unit that it's not even worth mentioning OR that I already had it so didn't purchase anything more. |
