These are little tricks you can do to make your Internet viewing more pleasurable (and less risky!)
Private E-mails
- if you have the problem of every one in the family seeing those all too embarrassing e-mails, then open up a hotmail account (or similar service) by going to www.hotmail.com. Its free, can be accessed from any computer and best of all, so long as only you know the password it's private.Covering your tracks
- if people are keeping tabs on where your going, especially if you've been some where you shouldn't have, you can delete things from the history by opening it up and right clicking on anything giving you the option to delete it. To stop things going on the short list you can follow links; either do searches or create your own. Alternatively, you can delete the whole short list by going to tools- Internet options- General- delete files, however this does look very dodge if you have a blank history. You can delete or open individual items through the 'Temporary Internet folder'.Getting round filters
- to do this simply use links without certain blocked words. Doing searches for related but not blocked words is a good way of fooling a filter (e.g. search for 'SUCCUBUS' instead of...well...you get the idea)Fooling search engines
- if you set up your own web site try including words and phrases in your text and links that have nothing to do with the web site but will make your web site appear on a search for that subject. For instance if I was to make SEX or XXX a link (they go to my home page), I could make my site appear in searches for sex or triple x. This sometimes works and normaly doesn't depending on how some search engines operate (actualy porn isn't a good subject as many thousonds of sites will appear before yours and some engines will exclude it for the use).Finding some ones IP address
- I won't ask why you want this, but I'll tell you one way to get it. If you have a hotmail account, set the information received to max, now all incoming e-mails will display the senders IP, and it is the senders not hotmails as some people would have you believe. However, for you to do anything about this you have to find it while the sender is still online. The easiest way to do this is to download MSN messenger (also attainable though hotmail), which will tell you the moment you've received an e-mail. Also any one gullible, and with messenger, you can get to send you an e-mail as you chat.Forging e-mails
- I would like to stress I 'v actually never done anything of this sort and have only viewed this action being carried out (honest!). Open a dos window and type in telnet. Now go to connect remote system and type in the name of a web site that forwards e-mails (you may have to try a few sites to find one that works) in the 'host name' and 25 in the 'port number'. Now type 'mail from:' and then the e-mail address you want to show in the x@y.z format (this can be anything). Now type 'RCPT to:' and the e-mail address you are sending to. Now, either you can type you message, or you must type 'Data:' and then your message. Your message will not display, you must do it from memory. Pressing delete will result in a displaying on the finished e-mail. Good ones to try are:Of course there are ways to detect an uncocha e-mail; the information provided with it will be odd and it will not have a subject (in fact I insist all my friends put a subject in their e-mails now) but it's not something you usually take notice of. There are other, slightly more illegal things you can do with telnet, but I'm no sucker for breaking the law.
